Epistory is such a great game! Love the visuals and the way the story is told even though it's very much a classic fairytale trope. Good soundtrack too that fits perfectly with the game.

I've played this game but for the life of me I can't remember a single thing about it. I don't recall there being anything offensively bad about it but also nothing that made it memorable either.

I played and finished this just last month so it's still kind of fresh in my memory. I think you summed it up pretty well.

3 out of 5 from me. It was alright, but nothing groundbreaking.

Man, I keep seeing that "iconic face" every now and day when I scroll past this game in my Steam library. It's haunting. Simultaneously intriguing and off-putting at the same time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want to play this weird game and see for myself.

Great stuff as always, Mento. I don't post here on GB all that often but I just had to log in and show some appreciation for your elaborate and well-written blog posts.

It's nice to see all these cool but overlooked indie games get some recognition and time in the spotlight. I'm constantly surprised by how many of these games that you've gone through in this blog that I already own, either through some bundle purchase or other cheap sale.

Sadly though, it's not often that I find the time to play them for myself, but at least it's fun to go "Oh, I wonder if Mento checked out this gem!" when I see something potentially interesting that's just collecting digital dust in my Steam library.

Maybe it's just that I haven't played many modern open-world games in recent years so I'm "unspoiled" by the standards set by other games, but I just got into Mad Max recently and I've had a blast with it (32 hours played so far).

I think the game looks beautiful and plays very well, which has made me not mind the repetitive nature of the activities so much. I actually really like both the driving/car combat and the normal ground combat. The game is very much a big checklist of things to do but the way the designed the game to pop up that "Location 100% cleared" message every time you've done and collected everything in a bandit camp is like catnip to a completionist like myself. It feels very stable and technically polished and I've not encountered more than 2-3 very minor bugs in my time with it.

The game is also super easy which I thought would get boring but it's been the opposite, actually. Like 20 hours in and you have a fully upgraded Max which is more or less like a walking tank in human form.

Having recently played through this game myself, I'm pretty much in agreement with you here. The ending got really dark, and I'm not sure I was prepared for that based on the previous episodes. 4/5 is probably where I'm at too all things considering.

My biggest criticism for the game though is the lack of music. The dull ambient background noise you hear through most of the game is truly a pace-killer. Especially in contrast to the fantastic Max Payne-style monologue cutscenes that all feature great jazzy tracks that really amp up the noir feel. Then you're dumped back into the actual game again and listening to nothing but humming refrigerators. Such a bummer.

Man, I'm so happy that this game exists. As a kid growing up in rural Finland during the 90s I can attest to the authenticity of everything I've seen in this game.

I love that it doesn't shy away from the shittiness and boredom that comes with living in the middle of nowhere, but instead fully embraces it in a charming way. The attention to detail is pretty great too.

For those of you that are curious as to which member of Celtic Frost did the soundtrack work, it is Curt Victor Bryant - whom played in the band from '88 to '93 (when the band broke up for the first time), so basically the Cold Lake to Vanity/Nemesis era of the band.

Cool, thanks duder.

It's been awhile since I last played a good metal-themed video game. Glad to see something like this pop up out of nowhere.
