Sadly, when I went in to follow-up on my application today the manager told me he wants to hire someone else, but they aren't giving him enough hours. Dx
But then again, it should have been expected. Remember, feminists always get up in arms when you have to save a princess in a game and in this one you also make her fat by stuffing her with delicious cake. The developers were begging for noise from feminists.
At least the controversy will give us all a nice laugh.
"As for me, I'm not going to be so hasty. If this community develops into it's own and becomes more interesting to me than Gamespot is, then I may make a permanent move. Otherwise, I see no reason for me to completely abandon a community that I've been active in for a while now and have no problem with.
"
You make it seem as if everyone that came from GameSpot abandoned it just to spite CNET, which couldn't be futher from the truth. A lot of us left the site due to the fact that the quality of discussion and the like had degraded, and because a lot of people we used to know had left the site already. This site is a fresh start and a new home for a lot of us, not a "Let's spite GameSpot!" site. "
I apologize if my post made it seem as if I was referring to everyone who is leaving GS for GB, because I know that is certainly not the case.
"Glad to see you here, subrosian. It's nice to know you'll be posting here with your consistently well reasoned, thoughtful posts.
Anyway, even though I do like the ability to rate posts, I don't understand why it's necessary to hide them, especially when everyone has the ability to un-hide them (though taking that ability away would be disastrous). What does that accomplish? I guess it will be humorous to find stupid posts hidden upon clicking on a thread, but in the end it just adds a pointless step that will slow down speedy browsing. And while it's not that big of a deal now, it could be when, as subrosian stated, it begins to be abused.
And it will be. "
I'm only participating in the Beta because I appreciate gaming and think it's good for people to have a news source. The whole "let's leave GS for GiantBomb" thing makes zero sense to me. I say that because any news source is fallable, anyone can make mistakes, and I feel it takes away from what Jeff is doing if the main reason people want to leave is to basically have unregulate SW :|
I agree.
The site is completely out of hand at the moment and there are a lot of people here who only wish to "escape" Gamespot because they believe they will have free reign. And while I'm sure GB won't be as strict as GS when it comes to what get folks in trouble for (example, I don't think saying a few bad words should be that big of a deal), they are still going to put an end to most of what's going on right now. I wonder how everyone will feel about that.
On the other hand, you raise a good point about what Jeff is trying to accomplish with this site and I'm sure you are absolutely right. Gamespot is in the past for Jeff and he's not interested in starting his own Gamespot, but instead a new community that is completely seperate...not a Gamespot Refugee Camp. However, it is only natural that a lot of Gamespotters flock here since Jeff was such a big part of Gamespot in the past.
As for me, I'm not going to be so hasty. If this community develops into it's own and becomes more interesting to me than Gamespot is, then I may make a permanent move. Otherwise, I see no reason for me to completely abandon a community that I've been active in for a while now and have no problem with.
