One Year Anniversary of The Wrestling Thread: 24 Hour Marathon.

Greetings, fellow duders.

Over the past year, you might have noticed a movement on the forums. It started out with a few guys on an abandoned forum on Giant Bomb over in The Wrestling Ring and then it kept growing. Next thing you know, our thread is the most active thread on Giant Bomb for the past three months straight. This Wednesday will be the day that our thread turns one year old, and we figure that we should do a little celebrating. We don't want to hold this party on our own, however, we want to make sure that everybody is invited to the TWENTY FOUR HOUR WRESTLING MARATHON.

This Wednesday, November 13th, starting at 12:00 PM EST ( @ 750.beats) we will be holding up a room at http://www.synchtube.com/r/TurboMan and will collectively be watching matches and moments collectively selected by The Wrestling Thread. Every duder is welcome to join in and participate, no matter if you're a wrestling fan or not.

It's also important to note what we have done. Is our thread just a bunch of spam talking about how much we all collectively hate John Cena? No. Here is a list of accomplishments and achievements that our little community has produced over the past year:

Monday Night Chatroom

I'm not shy about saying this: Sometimes a three hour show is long and tedious. However, if you're watching a show with a group of people and having fun with it, it's a blast. We currently average about fifteen to twenty people in the chat every week, and up to 30+ people on PPV's. It's a great way we build our sense of community and I highly recommend anybody that thinks about getting into wrestling to join us.

League of Champions

Some members of Giant Bomb have earned themselves Gold Medals. Only a select few are worthy of holding a championship belt in their avatars. Before each PPV, each of us gives up their picks/bids on who will win each and every match by using a combination of Dumb Luck, Wrestling Logic, and possible Wizardry. Oh, you think that WWE is going to give Dolph Ziggler that last rub before he earns a championship belt match? Well then you would be like me, at the bottom of the list. Only a select few have the skills to determine the outcomes of future matches.

Wrestling Wizard Society

Have you ever predicted that somebody was going to go through the Spanish Announce Table, even though that the match was inside of a steel cage? Have you ever predicted that the only weakness to Brock Lesnar would be to aim for his liver due to his past with Diverticulitis? We have, and there can only be one true explanation for it: Wizardry. Thus, we have came up with the Wrestling Wizard Society where you send in a selection of Krazy™ predictions and you can win the belt if you guess correctly. In the world of Wrestling Wizard Society, even the rules of Wrestling Logic don't apply...

Wednesday Night Wrasslin'

It all can't be about the present, which is why it's great to set aside a night where we take a look at the past. Every wednesday night on Synchtube, somebody puts together a playlist that will feature a wide variety of matches. You'll see at least one main event match, one gimmick match, one tag team match, one foreign match, and one match that's just plain terrible. It's always a blast and it's proven to be a great way to atleast

  1. Waste time while waiting for Spookin' With Scoops
  2. Come up with really dumb/amazing wrestling gimmicks (more on that later?)

The Future - A Wrestling Wiki (?)

You know how on the last TNT that Jeff mentioned how every wrestling website was just crawling with intrusive ads? IT'S FUCKING TRUE. Meaning that outside of WReddit and the wrestling subforum on 420chan, every wrestling website in the entire world is fucking terrible. That being said, a wrestling website in the style of Giant Bomb (blog/video/wiki) would be incredibly fun. It was a good idea a few years ago when Jeff said it at PAX, and it's a good idea today. There was a time in Whiskey Media where it was looking promising for more Whiskey sites to be made (Sports, Books, etc.), but that dream has gone up in flames with the merger of CBSi. However, we are still holding on to hope that maybe one day we can be able to run and operate a Wrestling Wiki ourselves.... One Day.....

I want to briefly thank the moderator and staff team for putting up with us also. Thanks for letting our community thrive within your forums.
