The scripted mission stuff really is just a tutorial on the mechanics and logic of each individual level. I would be so incredibly lost in this game if I refused to do them.
Patently Stupid might be the best game Jackbox has ever made. It's such a good blend between filling the blank, art, and making you interact with everyone playing. The art being on a napkin is really what sells it.
Didn't Turboman make a video just for Dan and Brad explaining how when you get caught trespassing, if you just stop where you are, the guards will escort you out of the area?
I'm happy this is finally happening. Here's my bits of feedback:
I really think the format should be two people who have played the full game and one person playing Gerstmann's role of asking honest questions about the game. Ben does a good job on his own here but the discussion about certain points would be more engaging if there was two voices on each issue. Rope in somebody from Gamespot or an outsider if you have to.
Editing would be fantastic, at the end of the day I would love it if it goes full-blown RLM style (or even the old 1UP Video) editing in it, editing in footage from Spiderman 2 which is mentioned frequently, editing in developer interviews on how important it was for them to nail the swinging like it was in Spiderman 2 and then cut back to Jeff mentioning how silly but necessary it was, etc... You could even incorporate footage from the Quick Look to back up points mentioned in the video review. I probably would record the quick look before recording this so you can have more natural call backs to that footage....
The last bulletpoint would obviously take a full work day (or two) to put together, so if that's not possible just have the reviewer bring in a decent amount of footage from his/her game sessions and get Jan/Jason to tighten them up a little bit and use that in the background similar to what Jan has been doing during the bombcast. Like for this review have chunks of footage labeled "Swinging", "Fighting", "Story", "Jamison as Alex Jones", etc. and play them at the appropriate times during the discussion.
Loosen up! This video seems pretty dry compared to everything else on GB.
Probably a little bit too long? Thirty minutes for a discussion of one game is probably the sweet spot but that would have to be experimented on more.
