Medic is a great class to begin with. Your job isn't too hard to fulfill, but most importantly, you can observe what your teammates do and learn from them.

  • So far, I like it. I played both the Xbox and the PC versions, and liked the PC version better. I felt like Valve fixed most of my problems with the first game, and I don't mind shelling out $60 for this. It's better in the right spots, and I really like the new special zombies. I also enjoy the melee weapons, though guitars seem a little out of place. ...

  • Maybe on Christmas they'll make the game incredibly easy.

Playing an Alchemist on Hard.  Loads of fun, my dog has summon zombies, and if I can find another summon spell I'll probably give that to him too. I just enjoy zapping dudes with the faux chain lightning.

  •  They played that video at the concert, it was a little longer though and was uncensored.  I saw them last night in Fairfax, they were totally awesome. There were kiosks that had demos of Brutal Legend where dudes could line up and play the game.  Everyone at the concert seemed like they were having fun and the whole experience was really enjoyable.

So it seems everyone has an opinion on Left 4 Dead 2, some people hate it, and some people REALLY hate it. Personally, I'm ready for more Left 4 Dead, but I don't think I want to pay $60, especially when we were promised more content for the original game. I understand that we haven't seen everything in Left 4 Dead 2, but the E3 footage looks more like Left 4 Dead 1.5.

I had similar problems with Gears of War 2. I felt like the entire game could have been added via download content. But, that was before I played it. Turns out, the game has a great campaign, fun yet inconsistent multi-player, and the extremely fun and frantic horde mode. It's a pretty good sequel, and generally what I think of when I think of what a sequel should be. It's more of the same, but with some good fixes and new game types. Gears of War 2, is still very much Gears of War, but it's also able to stand on its own.

It's not easy to make a great sequel, ask Hollywood.

What is surprising everyone about Left 4 Dead 2, is that it's made by Valve. Valve has prided themselves on how they take more time to make great games, and how they add content over time to existing franchises. Team Fortress 2 is a prime example. Valve has been fantastic about adding achievements, items, game modes, and new maps. For me, Team Fortress wouldn't be nearly as fun as it is now without the additional content. I play arena more than any other mode, and maps like Watch Tower, Egypt, and Gold Rush, are maps I play the most, all added overtime for free. Payload, Arena, the achievements and items were not added in Team Fortress 3. In fact we probably won't get Team Fortress 3 in a long, long time.

Half-Life 2 has two additional campaigns, sure you have to pay for them, but they're inexpensive and short. Episode 2 was a part of the Orange Box, a 5 game compilation. Which is the most inexpensive $60 game ever.

I guess I'll move on to Left 4 Dead 2.

I like a lot of what I see of Left 4 Dead 2, I like the frying pans, I like the new horde alerting, and I like the new setting. But what will eventually sell me on Left 4 Dead 2, is that it's more Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead was probably my second favorite game of 2008. I love it. I thought I'd get tired of it, and I haven't. I haven't really delved into the survival mode yet but I still can't stop playing the game. It's fantastic, a solid 9 out of 10, 4.5 out of 5, whatever. And I'm sure that Left 4 Dead 2 will be just as good or better. But I'm not sure if "better" is all that I'm looking for when I'm paying $60 for a sequel.

Now, these are my initial impressions of just seeing the game, I haven't played it, and I have only seen the videos online. I'm excepting more announcements before the game is released, and maybe my skepticism will go away, but as of now, I'm unwillingly sold. I say unwillingly, because I will buy this game. I'll buy it because I love Left 4 Dead, and I love Valve.

But what if Left 4 Dead 2 is canceled. What if instead we get an expansion called Left 4 Dead: New Orleans? Will everyone be happy?

I'd be happy, a lot of people probably would be happy. But would everyone be happy?

Nope.

No Old Republic footage for the public. :(

But that trailer deserves an Academy Award.
