Batman Gaiden: The Gotham Reunion Tour 0

I sat on the idea of doing this review for a while, because my feelings on this game are really mixed and I wanted to be able to solidly praise or condemned. In the end, it turns out I can't really do either. Batman: Arkham Origins is a game that I want to love unconditionally, but will unfortunately have to offer a number of caveats in recommending.First off, though it would be easy to mistake it, Origins is not made by Rocksteady games, who were the originators of the Arkham games and made the...

Bigger, Battier, and Uncut. 0

In 2009, Arkham Asylum reinvented the wheel not just for Comic Book license games, but third person action exploration games in general. With the fantastic blend of Rocksteady's patented free flow combat system, Metroi-like exploration based on gathering new tools and gadgets throughout the game, and a story that successfully represented a Batman comic arc in motion and brought back fan favorites Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and his once and future nemesis The Joker, one almost had to ...

A Perennial Classic 0

It's hard to believe this game is more than ten years old. Prior to Arkham Asylum, the best superhero game on the market was Spiderman 2, and the best Batman game was probably the movie adaption of Batman Begins, and that's not a very high mark to beat. Arkham Asylum didn't just raise the bar for superhero games, it raised the bar for beat 'em up action games in general, and introduced a free form combat system that would be duplicated for years to come.Even if you aren't a dyed in the wool Batm...

Deadpool is a game that's very sure of what it is, but is what it is very good? 0

Superheroes have a tenuous spot in the annals of Video Game history. The recent Arkham games notwithstanding, most comic book inspired video games have ranged from terrible (see: Superman 64) to simply middling (see: any given Marvel game from the past five years). Deadpool doesn't do much to buck this trend, though it leans more on the middling side of things than the terrible. Functionally, it's a basically functional low-rent God of War with some basic platforming and shooting, but the story ...

Sonic 4 isn't terrible, but it's not amazing either. 1

A familiar sight, indeed.   Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (Yes, the fourth Sonic The Hedgehog game, at last. There have been no others. Ever.) comes at a strange and somewhat appropriate time in games history. In the past couple of years, there’s been a strong nineties resurgence with titles like Street Fighter 4, Megaman 9 and 10, New Super Mario Bros, and the upcoming Mortal Kombat game, all hearkening back to their early-90s ancestry. Sonic The Hedgehog continues this trend with So...
