I used to use the Gamespot blog thing quite a bit just to write down my current thoughts on the games I am playing so I'll transition over here.

I recently closed up my Gamefly account as I now have Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect 2, and Red Dead Redemption sitting around waiting to be finished. With my limited play schedule and unhealthy obsession with Super Street Fighter 4 these games will easily take me until September to get through.

I'm about to hit chapter 8 in Final Fantasy XIII and honestly, I don't understand where the complaints are coming from with this game. It doesn't seem any more or less linear than Final Fantasy X and the combat is so damn weird at first I appreciate the time they give you before stacking new mechanics on you. I'm enjoying this game and it seems very "Final Fantasy" like to me right from the start, as long as you aren't comparing it to pre-1995 games.

I continue to advance in Super Street Fighter 4, I've become frustrated with online play as there just isn't enough good competition out there. I participate in the local play group on Friday nights when my schedule allows and there are some really great players that come out. I thirst for more games like that, as you can never be any better than your current competition. Unfortunately I am usually always very busy with working my regular job, or playing in a band. We tend to play out almost every Friday and Saturday night, thus stopping me from getting out to the local scene for SSF4.

That's all for today I suppose.

When you play Bison you always need to be 2 steps ahead of your opponent.

The first thing you need to do is forget about combos right now except your main punisher which will be c.LK xx Scissor, c.MK xx Scissor or c.MP xx Scissor.

The most important thing to learn as Bison is spacing, zoning and dashing. He has a very fast walk speed and one of the best forward dashes in the game. If say Ryu were to throw a fireball right at the start of the match you could focus dash through it on reaction and throw. Do that a few times and Ryu stops throwing fireballs.

Spacing. Bison's standing forward (medium kick) comes out really fast has great range and recovers fast. If a Ryu wiffs a crouching forward in front of you press standing forward. Congrats you just learned what "footsies" is. Also get the range down for the standing round house (hard kick).

Zoning. Zoning is very similar to spacing, it's mostly about trying to keep yourself at just the right range so all of your opponents primary attacks become ineffective. This is character specific and learning specific match ups is a big hurdle you have to get over in the world of Street Fighter 4.

As you get used to zoning and spacing experiment with jump distances and angles for jumping forward, this kick can do all kinds of weird things such as either hit in front and you land behind, cross up, not cross up. From the right distances it can be tough for you or your opponent to judge how it's going to hit. For keeping charge during these jumping attacks I typically assume it's going to cross up. If it doesn't you will not have enough time to charge for a combo that ends with scissors so just so s.LK, s.LK, s.HK as a hit confirm. This is also one of the only true block strings in the game if executed properly.

Once you get comfortable with these things you need to get the crouching short (light kick) x3 xx scissor down...air tight. There is no secret, it just takes a lot of practice. For predicted fireballs when you can land a nice deep jump in fierce (hard punch) I will usually do the bread and butter combo c.LP, s.LP, c.MK xx roundhouse scissor. This combo works if you do two crouching jabs as well, but it is a much smaller link window to get to the crouching forward. That is why you will see most Bison's do standing jab. I'm not exactly sure on the numbers but it's something like a 4 frame link as opposed to a 1 frame link.

If you get pinned down, EX Psycho Crusher is a great escape option. It's generally safe if your opponent is right up next to you. Teleport is a way out that saves meter but if it's predicted you can be punished for it.

Be careful not to fall into the trap of using too much Devil's Reverse or Head Stomp. These moves are very effective against beginners but quickly become very unsafe as you play better opponents. Devil's Reverse can be a good way to build meter at full screen in some cases, but really you are Bison, instill fear into the heart of your opponent and build meter by RUSHING THAT SHIT DOWN!

As for turtles, a wise man once said, "You can't really rush a good player who is determined to play lame, all you can do is beat them at their own game."

If anyone wants to play some matches and is on the east coast I'm always up for finding new friends to spar with, just send me a friend request on PSN or Xbox LIVE, my gamertag is wapostyle on both networks and I play Super SF4 regularly on both platforms.

I'm still competitive to this day in Super Street Fighter 4.

I am active in the local community and attend any tournament that my work schedule will allow.
