Finished Fable II, Thoughts on Dead Space etc...

I have taken a few days off from work, to recoup from a procedure done on my nose. They cauterized (essentially burned) the blood vessels in my nose to stop it from bleeding. I've had quite a few problems, so it was a necessary procedure. I just hope it can stop affecting my life. It has been ruining it pretty well. I've avoided social situations as much as possible. It sucks, to put it plainly.

One thing that doesn't suck is Fable II. With the extra time off, I beat it. Yes, I beat it. This is my first RPG to ever beat. Shocking? It shouldn't be. I'm not an RPG person, and they tend to drag on for way too long with padded gameplay. Fable II does not. It let's you play more if you want, but it's completely up to you. Over the course of my Fable II time, I received 3 STDs (p

robably during the group sex I had), 4 families (one which ended by me killing my wife), and owning the entire town of Bowerstone and Bowerstone Old Town. Owning both of those towns, along with a few other things along the way netted me over 5,000 gold every five real world minutes. I'd have to say I was pretty accomplished. I guess you could say I loved the game. I'm still not done with it, but I probably won't touch it for a while. More games continue to come out, and I only have so much time to spread around.

On the other hand, there is a game I do not love. I don't even want to play it anymore. It's Dead Space. Something about it doesn't click with me.

It's not scary, it's not fun, it's boring and mediocre. Honestly, I'd rather have Far Cry 2. That game looks to be VERY fun. I don't see myself coming back to Dead Space. Ever. It's a horror game, I'm supposed to like it, right!? No. There's not much horror here, and the action is very meh. Give me Resident Evil 4 anyday... or 5. Heh. Fracture's the same as Dead Space really. I haven't touched Fracture since the day I bought it. Now that's funny.

Okay, I'm done for now, I'll fill you in on my next purchase for sure.

Hmm, you have made me more hesitate over Dead Space, I will definitely check it out sometime but not now anyway. I have Far Cry 2 and it is great but lots of people say its shit because they can't be bothered driving everywhere. Simply, I think its fantastic and the driving is fun because of the graphics and atmosphere. It is also the first FPS that I can recall being made in the last 5 years that is over 20 hours long, thats an accomplishment in 2008. I am 10 hours in but I am still only on Act 1. Shame that you don't like Dead Space.

You did all that in Fable II? Wow. That's pretty impressive for a game to have those kind of options even though I probably would have played the game differently than you did. =P

Pretty surprising to hear you ain't fussed on Dead Space since I assumed that would be a game you would like since you are into your survival horror games.  Fable II on the other hand I am surprised you enjoyed but I guess there is a game in a certain genre that you ain't fond of that could change your mind.  Its a fun game indeed.

Haha, having played both games in the past week I definitely agree. Dead Space is merely ok, but has nothing to keep me hooked other than me wanting to beat the game now that I've started it. Wish the main character actually interacted with the others... oh well.
Can't wait to finish up with Fable II! Really wish I could buy that game...
Hope you get to feelin better dude. I had tons of problems with nose bleeds as a kid. Luckily that's pretty much faded now.

Hey Wesker,

I've had similar problems with nose bleeds and at one point had to go to the ER to get the same procedure that you received.  It wasn't fun and hurt like hell.  I would suggest if you haven't already: Go to Walgreens and buy some Saline nasal spray.  Over the past 6 months I've had virtually no problems.  Also a humidifier would likely help of course.  Hope the situation improves for you.  So far I like Dead Space.  I really like the controls...plus the use of lighting and ambiance (sound effects, etc) are used great (though not entirely original, but that's certainly OK).  To each their own.

Eh Far Cry 2 is pretty mediocre. If you do get it, don't get it for PC. I never though I would say that PC version of this game sucks HARD.

I honestly think about Dead Space the same way. I really don't understand what's so amazing and scary about it. It's just Resident Evil 4 in space.

Yes, Alone in the Dark and RE4 are both better than Dead Space.

Alone in the dark though, NOW THAT'S A GAME! lulz. The shooting in RE4 = broken. Dead Space is quite refreshing in this aspect.

Glad you enjoyed Fable II.  Just got the game myself and can't wait to jump into the world of Albion.

As for Dead Space... dunno why you don't like it.  I think it's an amazing game.

Really...? I totally didn't expect you to hate Dead Space so much. I personally thought it was fantastic. You would seriously take Alone in the Dark over Dead Space?? Crazy talk.

Far Cry 2 has been alright so far but it has some rather annoying things in it that drive me nuts (like constant attacks from enemies and lots and lots and lots of driving).
