@Vonocourt: And at no point, did anyone in that room think "I must go and do some work." They should have looked online for a cheat code to get to level 10.
I kept on dying at first. When I ran into an area that was too tough, I would go back to an earlier save and go off in another direction. I had problems clearing out the local supermarket, I also got a shock when I ran into the Mirelurks on the way to Arafu, then there are the scorpions and those fire ants... I left it quite a while before going back and tackling the ants.
It is easy to miss a location when trekking through the wastes, I just randomly stumbled across them. Also one of the most powerful early weapons for me is a shotgun, fired at near point blank range.
The first success I had was clearing out the school building near where the game starts. I picked up some weapons, ammo and Experience points there. The beginning is in some ways the toughest part of the game to get through.
I have lost track of the games that I haven't completed over the years. If the game doesn't suit you and isn't fun, then try something else.
8 months?! In my defence I have only recently discovered the Giant Bomb.
Fallout 3 started crashing regularly again once I started playing Point Lookout. The crashes got more and more frequent and so I just did the main set of missions and got out of there, back to the Washington wastes while I still could. It's probably something to do with my particular set-up disagreeing with the game.
I have found over the years that it is more fun to let people live in games. I have found this with games like Deus Ex, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.
In Mass Effect 2 I spared and saved as many people as possible, so that when I used my save file for Mass Effect 3, as many of the those people as possible can be part of the plot.
The maps on Battlefield: BC2 seem smaller and more simple than those in the older Battlefield 2 game. But then this is designed as a hybrid console\PC game. A full 64 player Battlefield 2 map can get a bit crazy at times.
The first time around when Lucus Simm died. But when I installed the Broken Steel and Point Lookout expansions, I had been completing quest for ages while stuck at Level 20, so I started a new game and this time he lived.
It was only a small thing but I ended up taking a screenshot of what I found.
Imagine, it's the end of the world, the bombs are falling... What do you do? Inside a wooden shack out in the wastes, I found both a skeleton and a toaster in the bathtub...
Once Fallout 3 patch v1.5 was released, the game stopped regularly crashing on me and generally worked fine. From then on there was only the occasional crash, which didn't affect my overall game play much. The Broken Steel Expansion also worked fine.
