The Smash Box Kickstarter is finally live. So the most important stuff we've known about is the same: Sanwa OBSF-24 buttons in the layout that they've been demoing and teasing for months. There's a switch that allows for different profiles that can be changed by the user. The one thing that was news to me in the announcement is that the box will now have a wiimote accessory port on it, allowing the user to plug a Nunchuk accessory to the box. That way, the user can have a analog stick but still get the benefit from the rest of the Smash Box layout.

$200 for a Smash Box, campaign ends April 1. I'm thinking about it.

Failed on the Warlord nearly instantly. Turns out you can't just walk into a hostile area and then get escorted out by a guard. tmyk. By the time I realized I needed to the scumbag maneuver of quitting before I died it was a bit too late.

At least I got my first elusive target SA on the Blackmailer.

Whoa, a couple of hard pushes and Pokken could beat Marvel in the vote. Where is that coming from?

@jesus_phish: @picky_bugger: In all fairness regarding the new weapons and balance, I love the gb guys but none of them actually understand this game. The interaction between the rapier and the two-hander might be interesting but we haven't seen anyone play it that knows how to fence.

I noticed the dagger went into a low stance that it maintained in air and looked like could kill standing characters, but it needs to be explored.

The bow looks kinda butt right now, I dunno.

Thinking about this stuff makes me think of Smash Bros. I can see this game as being a tournament game, the original Nidhogg certainly had the gameplay chops for it, and with a little formalization this could too, but do Messhof want that?

I found the look of the first game to be pretty cool initially, but some of the stages had really harsh color schemes and stuff going on, and between that and the drum and bass soundtrack...i dunno, it felt a bit oppressive to me. I love the music and stage art of this that I've seen, but yeah, I could do with maybe some additional options for the character you play as? My headcanon for the characters in the original, like some others in this thread, was that they were, I dunno, gentlemen soldiers or swashbuckling rogues. The Musketeers or Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride.

I think it's quite possible to make characters that look "cool" but are still very animated, emotive, and fit the established aesthetic of the artist. Keep the work that's been done, create more characters that appeal to the people that don't want to play as a malformed ape, and add a character select screen. I think that would pay off for them.

The Wireless Xbox One Controller for Windows (or something like that) is your most straightforward option. It's a One controller that comes with its own wireless dongle. Don't know if you could just buy a One controller and use the dongle you just bought...again, that specific package for PC play is most straightforward.

I ended up looking all this stuff up last week when I confirmed that Killer Instinct for Windows 10 did not recognize a PS3/4 pad whatsoever. Like you mentioned, the dualshock is nice, but maybe not worth the trouble.

+1, that's a healthy post right there.

Hey, I just had the exact same thing happen to me. Log out and log back in, that's what did it for me.

My read from the gameplay was that id took a look at the mod Brutal DooM and thought to themselves, "Oh, that's DooM." They were right, but they didn't go all the way. I recognize they were walking slowly through chunks of the gameplay presentation so that viewers could check out the world, but I agree that the top speed should be at least a bit higher.

My bigger concern is with the art, though. I want the shotgun in a DooM game to look like it was pulled out of a police cruiser from the 1970s. I don't know how you would justify vintage weapons in a future setting, but that would beat the pants off the blocky, mostly unrecognizable 'future' look they seem to have given much of the arsenal. I wish the doom guy had a look with more character than the full-body high-tech armor look ala Crysis.

Overall...yep, not a great feeling about it at the moment.
