Regarding the episode titles and spoilers, they have always had an issue with that. What you're missing is the context that none of this material was new to fans - they were reading the manga which was usually ahead of the anime by a few months. So scenes like Majin Buu dying, Gohan turning Super Saiyan 2 and so on were already known quantities and fans were just waiting to see it in animated form rather than in printed material.
The guys should watch DB because it has a lot of that goofy fantasy Earth charm which they love in the downtime of DBZ. More animal people, a lot of interesting tidbits about society and their selective memory when it comes to things (seriously, everyone remembers Piccolo as the Demon King in the ending but nobody remembers Vegeta, the Saiyan who blew up a city or ki attacks in general?) and lots of great character moments with the original cast. It may not have Vegeta but you can see the origins of his character (since he is basically Tien 3.0 with Piccolo being Tien 2.0) and it has the full character arc of Master Roshi which stands as one of the best parts of the entire franchise.
Thankfully the fact that FighterZ omitted a certain character has kept Jeff and Dan in the dark about what will happen next. I'm looking forward to the next podcast episode.
My 2cents - Dragon Ball is a must watch for any fans of DBZ. Why? It's the origin story of Goku and shows how he became so powerful in the first place. He wasn't as strong as the toughest humans at first, he had to work his way up, and that journey is compelling all by itself. Also, it's a better written show than DBZ and has better character arcs (with the sole exception of Vegeta whose complete character arc is the best part of Z). To handwave it away with "it has pervy jokes" is a shame.
I really wish they had kept Videl's moment as it was in the japanese version. In that, she realised Goku and Gohan were related because they shared the surname Son, and people having surnames in the Dragon Ball world are very rare.
Hearing Jeff and Dan, I think they'll really like the Buu arc as there are many great moments with their favourite characters.
