40 years old here and have a son who is 9. Best time to have kids is once you've became 30 as you've has about 10 years to party and basically have fun. Time to settle down once you hit 30 but that's not to mean you can't still enjoy life and have fun. You still can, just not as much as before.

But do you know what's best about having a kid? You can play games with them! My son and I play Minecraft together. We've been building our own world over the last two years. We also play Marvel Vs Capcom 3 too although he uses simple mode and quite often kicks my arse!

I'm a little late to the party when it comes to Blood and Wine DLC as I needed to finish Dark Souls III before heading out on another epic journey in the world of the Witcher III. I'd completely went over the original and first DLC with a fine tooth comb clocking in 700+ hours according to the in-game clock but I think that's got to be wrong. Anyway, I was so looking forward to Blood & Wine and so far am loving it although it took me about an hour to get back to grips with how the game controls. What is quite shocking though is within the first 10 minutes of gameplay I had two funny glitches.

When starting a battle with the giant I'd end up stuck in a T pose. This happened about 10 times in a row!

The next glitch came with the giant's body just completely vanishing! His clothes and so on were still there mind you. My health bar was completely empty too!

@bigsocrates: In the west, yes. Especially America where Nintendo was the thing. In the UK where I'm originally from, not so much and in Japan not at all. The whole retro collecting vibe of the west isn't that strong over here. Quite sad really as game collecting is still pretty much geared towards the "geeks" . I'm not sure how it is in the west these days. Is retro game collecting much more mainstream than it was 10 years ago? It seems that way from forums I read and YouTube videos.

@bigsocrates: What you say makes sense for new retail games but it doesn't explain why the used game market is still stupidly high when it comes to Nintendo games. I guess it could be the mentality that they cost so much new that used prices should stay high too.

I vote Kirby because Kirby games are truly fun. I don't find Mario or his spin offs fun at all. Maybe I'm odd :p

There's just something about Kirby games. Yeah, they are very childish in appearance and not something a 40 year old guy should be in to but they are just so much fun to play. My son and I still play two player co-op on the Wii Kirby title. He'll play as Kirby while I'm DDD.

Where I live (Japan) Nintendo is basically a kids system. Sorry for the fan boys out there but that's the way it is in Nintendo's home land. Because of this prices stay high even on used items because stores know that parents will be buying stuff for their kids and have that extra bit of cash to splash out (compared to student gamers with their COD ready systems) . As far as new releases go, well you very rarely see anything get discounted, even on Amazon. It's easy to find deals for your Xbox One or PS4. Wii U though or 3DS, not gonna happen.

A few others have mentioned these but for your Xbox One I'd get the following:

The Witcher 3 - Excellent game that I've personally put hundreds of hours in to. Plus the DLC packs add over another 100 hours of game play!

Dark Souls III - Not as beautiful looking as The Witcher 3 but a sold and very absorbing game. Another that I spent about 80 hours on before completing it.

Dirt 3 - If you are in to your racing games you can't go wrong with this title.

Yes, there is some truth in this but I wouldn't say all Japanese pressings have this quality of extra treble. I have quite a few bass heavy records too. Still, the overall quality of the pressing, materials and even packing is far superior to that of western or at least UK pressed records. Saying that I do own one Japanese pressed full colour picture disc and that sounds awful. So bad I would say it sounded as if it was grating. Looks to be mint condition though so I'm guessing the materials used are not good or is this a common isue with picture discs?

Japanese pressings in the 1980's had the reputation of being much brighter in tone than their equivalent Europe and US counterparts. I have several "specialty" import pressings that I paid quite a lot for at the time and they have much less bass and much more treble than I was expecting.

Forget about Kinect unless you like talking to yourself. I picked up a XBOX One a few months back when it was released over here in Japan. I when for the set without Kinect as I never used it on my 360. Using an Xbox One without Kinect is perfectly fine and if you do want to be different you could always use smart glass on your phone or tablet to control all the menus, write messages and other stuff.

Game wise, well there's a lot to get just in the last few months alone. Within the last few weeks I've picked up Walking Dead Seasons 1 & 2, Sunset Overdrive, Shadow of Mordor, Forza Horizon 2 and Lego the Movie (for my son).

Back in the 80's and all the way up to 1998 I bought loads of vinyl. Then I moved to Japan and left it all in the UK. This year a friend gave me a 7" single of Fright Night (theme from the movie). I love the movie so actually went out and bought a turntable just to listen to this record. What a mistake that was according to my wife. Within in 6 months I now have over 50 singles and about 20 albums. Buying vinyl in Japan is really easy and most of the time in amazing condition. I have stuff from the very early 80's that still sounds brand new! Of course some vinyl is expensive but you can buy a lot of stuff quite cheap. Only yesterday did I pick up 4 a-ha albums and 2 12" singles for 600 yen. Sure, a-ha may not be everyone's cup of tea but they do have some good to great tracks and for the price of 600 yen for what seems like mint vinyl you'd be mad to pass them up.

Now, I'm bitten by the vinyl bug again just like the old days. I love the stuff. Sure, it's bulky and it can sound crackly (I actually like that) but it's special. Just like playing a real cartridge or CD on a real console. Better than emulation any day.
