I wasn't silly enough to fall for Destiny as the hype alone was enough to tell me it wasn't going good to be what they promised. So I'm playing Forza Horizon 2 which is fantastic. Also playing some classic 16bit stuff.

when I was a teenager and in my 20s I'd do at least 3 hours every weekday without fail. Now that I'm 38 with a full time job and family I normally only get an hour of gaming each day between 11pm and 12am. Saying that, some days no gaming is done on a week day if there's some TV I'd like to watch. Weekends though always have time for at least 2 to 4 hours :)

All retro games run at 60fps or 50fps in PAL land. I am a big retro gamer so of course 60fps to me is best. Modern games that run at 30fps can look good or bad depending on the game. For example, Forza Horaizon 2 looks fantastic even though it's locked at 30fps but something like a side scrolling game (Sonic Generations) look total ass and have a nasty blured look to them which is really off putting. So I'd say that for FP style games such as driving and FPS then 30fps is do-able but side scrolling needs 60fps.

I bought Metal Gear Revengeance a few months back for the soul reason it was cheap. Being a Platinum made game I sort of knew what to expect but year, at first the game didn't really impress me but the more I played the more I got in to it and began to enjoy it more and more. I did eventually finish the game but I guess there wasn't enough in it to make me challenge a second play through on a higher level setting.

If you can find this game cheap then it's well worth picking up IMO.

@isomeri: $75? Good price. PC stuff is pretty expensive in Japan. I'm sure my 1TB model was about that much.

$400? I've been selling the Framemeister for well over a year now for around $350 with shipping included. Seriously. I mostly sell at ASSEMblergames but have had a few people come to me via YouTube and other forums.

The optimal setup for original hardware involves a device called a Framemeister - a hefty $400 investment that needs to be imported from Japan, but gives you pretty flawless pixels.

The missus and I went to a place called Huis Ten Bosch "theme park" in southern Japan during summer (It's basically Holland in Japan.) For some crazy reason we decided to eat dinner there. Man, it cost us 7000 yen for two tinny stake dishes and 1 beer!. That's about 51 Euros / 65 USD / 40 GBP. What a rip off! We could have had a full course Yaki Niku banquet for that price, stuffed to bursting point.

Over the years I've sold off many great titles only to want them back in the future, mostly at an inflated price.

Back in the early 90's I sold off a massive Mega Drive collection that had all the rare and expensive titles in such as Battle Mania 1 & 2, Castlevania, Contra, Twinkle Tale, V-V, Rockman, Alien Soldier and so on. It was one of the most stupidest moves I've ever made because most of those games cost 3 or 4 times as much now. Basically I wasted a tone of cash buying back stuff I never should have sold. Live and learn I guess.

Another external HDD user here. With my XBOX One I use a Western Digital Passport Ultra USB HDD as seen below

No Caption Provided

That works just fine. The little white LED is always flashing when the HDD is not actually active but apart from that it's fine.

EDIT: Just noticed that realph had his setting set up wrong :) Oh well. Still, I do recommend the WD Passport Ultra HDD. Pretty rock solid and comes in some pretty colours :p

Playing on the Retron is no different than playing on a laptop connected to the TV via HDMI. Well, tell a lie. It's far worse than using a laptop because you are limited to the amount of emulators the machine has. A PC has emulators for everything almost including the greatest of all, arcade! Plus the emulation is better too!

I have a laptop connected to my TV for arcade emulation which I use in conjunction with a Saturn USB PC pad or a 360 controller. This is idea and works really well. For real gaming I'm lucky enough to have all the following in RGB through a Framemeister all connected to the TV - Mega Drive, SFC, Dreamcast, Saturn, Turbo Duo PC Engine and PlayStation 2. There's also a Wii, 360 and Xbox One.
