Games I played in 2019

List items

  • PC, 2018, 5.5/10: A squad base rpg. From my understanding this is a remake of a remake. And while it does have some charm, the system were outdated/bad. The game itself seem like a big open world, but not one worth exploring. I finish the first monster lair quest, not because anyone told me to, but because i was bored. And that boredom was my main problem, i never felt like i had a goal or quest really, just more of wandering around doing stuff that i would do in other games.

  • PC, 2018, 3/10: A pretty 2d platformer that doesn't have anything new or interesting to offer. With dull gameplay and the lack of a neat gimmick, i quickly grew bored of this title.

  • PC, 2018, 2/10: Not much of a game, well, the couple of levels i tried were much. Maybe it becomes more, but i don't care for the basic gameplay (click and drag an object from point A to point B) so i didn't play it for long.

  • PC, 2018, 3/10: A puzzle game with (bad) fart humor. There a way to do fart jokes, and this isn't it. Also the puzzles are too few and far apart. With a crappy game inbetween them.

  • PC, 2018, 6/10: A decent econ sim game, but it lacks a goal (well, one that i would care for, there are 'missions' but i wanted more of goal in the civ way). Played for a few hours, kind of got into it, but stopped when i realized that i wasn't making progress as much as i was just repeating the same cycle over and over, with just slight new items that did things a bit better... which is similar to why i stopped that automation food game... though in this one, i saw that at the end of the research tree were buildings that just did things better, but that was so far off, and i didn't feel like playing the game for another 3 hours just to get to the point where things were easier (but not funnier).

  • PC, 2018, 5/10: Got back in it while i have time, rep grinding, and other grinding. Overall it is an ok expansion, but nothing interesting.

Completed: Got 2, 120 characters, did most of the story stuff, got decent gear as of 8.2.5

  • NSW, 2019, 7.5/10: Got all 8 badges, heading towards end game stuff. Fun, but not great.

Completed: Got the first ending, there a bit of a end game, so i might go through that. It was fun overall, but not great. And the main draw has been that a lot of my friends are playing it, which make it more interesting. As a game, it is a better pokemon game, but there still a bit they could do like preview enemy pokemon, and a better in-game wiki that would help a lot.

  • PC, 2019, 5.5/10: Wow, didn't know this came out this year.

Completed: The main quest line and some of the side quest stuff. Got to level 15 or so. The game was better than Destiny series, but not as good as the Division(s). Like so many of these games, it just a lot of doing the same thing over and over at different spots. One of the most annoying/biggest failure is that they added overheating to the flying... which makes it bad, and doesn't add anything to the game.

  • PC, 2018, 5.5/10: A FPS, that has a dull singleplayer mode, and a decent multiplayer mode.

Completed: Singleplayer mode, it was crappy. Most of the time you were just by yourself fighting the enemy army, which felt dated. Did a few rounds of MP, which was fun, enjoyed being able to build stuff... did poorly at the main stuff of fighting though.

  • PC, 2017, 6/10: A fast pace rogue lite game.

Completed: The game on normal. Couldn't get past hard. This game is very item focused. And it lack the goofness of Rogue Legacy, and stat increases of like every other rogue lite game. You just unlocked items, general upgrades (which were all disappointing stuff, like more hp potions, or keep more money when you die),mutations (none of which felt good, just cool down reductions and temp buffs on kills stuff), and costumes. Overall it was fun to play through once, but i have no interest in going through it again, just to get more items since that is dull.

  • PC, 2018, 6.5/10: A RTS that about surviving. Fun story, and great to cheat to at.

Completed: The main story and 1 side story. Both were fun, got to build stuff, solve problems and explore. Didn't do it fairly, since it seem like things would always be falling apart, and i don't like that. .. so had fun a different way.

  • PC, 2018, 5.5/10: A two character puzzle game where the characters are attach to each other by a string. The puzzles were ok, but not good. And the levels lasted too long, to the point where you repeated the same puzzle mechanic about 20 times... well the basic ones, most of the other level specific ones were only done about 5-10 times. But they didn't feel new/interesting, so their overuse and overstay were bad.

  • PC, 2018, 5/10: A 3rd person action rpg game with a ton of dialogue, and combat.

Completed: The game, got the best ending. Played on Easy, since i didn't want to deal with the combat part. Heard it was bad, and yeah... it was bad. The game felt.... outdated for the most part. There wasn't a fast travel system, most of the quest required running across the map. The only way to level up was to 'sleep' for a day, which respawn all the enemies... kind of felt like they wanted to make a dark soul adventure game. There are like 4 endings, total based on how many people you embraced, which felt cheap and disappointing. There was no real way to interact with the gaming world. And by that, i mean you couldn't take over areas, build things, or change people around... you just manage numbers on a health scare by giving items to npcs or embracing/killing them.

  • PC, 2017, 5.5/10: A RTS with overworld stats (in the campaign). Very econ focus with building up defenses to fight off large numbers of enemies. Got about 7 missions in before i stopped. Decent gameplay, but each mission was about the same. And the fact that you have to start over on each map, was too much.

  • PC, 2008, 6/10: A creature/civ game. It was fun to go through once, but i have no interest in doing it again. The replay value is low, despite all the custom stuff.

Completed: The first 4 stages, and most of the space stage. The space stage doesn't have an ending, but i didn't feel like getting all the badges/items, so i stopped after a few hours. Overall it was fun, the game, but felt shallow.

  • PC, 2020, NA: Alpha Demo thingy. Kind of fun, but the controls seem to be all mouse base, and i don't like that... guess they might be controller too, in any case, the game was alright, but shallow. If the end game adds a bunch of gameplay mechanics, then it should be great, but if it keeps as is, then it won't be worth the time.

  • PC, 20XX, NA: Alpha demo thingy. This is actual for the reboot, not 3. It was kind of fun, but the level design and gameplay loop was outdated. I'll probably pass on this when it comes out.

  • PC, 2016, 5/10: A mobile game, well, felt like one, where you mine for oil and such.

Completed: The campaign, become the mayor, and then didn't replay it. The game is too repetitive. And while it does introduce new items/concepts, it does it so slowly, and there aren't enough of them.

  • PC, 2015, 5.5/10: A rogue lite that mainly plays as a top down, 2d, shooter. There not much to it, runs just seem to unlock new characters, which have different powers/abilities, but there only like 10-ish of them.

Completed: 1 full run. Tried a few times, was able to get through once. And after that, i had no interest in playing more, even though, i unlocked new characters. Reminded me a lot of dead cells in that it didn't have a good hook/progress system. Just items (and characters, which are kind of like items)

  • PC, 2018, 5/10: A rogue like that is kind of like FTL, but more shallow, which is why it doesn't work. Got past the first major checkpoint, and well... the game is too shallow. It just combat focus, with no story, and other than new enemy types, all the maps feel kind of the same.

  • PC, 2018, 6/10: A survival crafting space game that is in kind of early access. By that i mean, the first part of the story is done, and there a bit there, and they are charging money for it, so its kind of a done project that just has updates.

Completed: The first part, played through on story, and play around in the sandbox mode. It was fun, but shallow by the repetitive nature.

  • PS4, 2019, 7.5/10: Still playing it, and mostly done with it, so going to give it a rating as of right now, might change, endings for these games matter a lot.

Completed: The game, it held up, and by that i mean it was good, but not great. Enjoyed the feel of it, the only big negative i had was with the load times on the PS4 version of it. I can understand why some people didn't like it, it plays pretty much like Fallout New Vegas, which came out like 10 years ago, so... outdated a bit. And the ending(s) weren't as good as they should have been. There was 1 good ending (which i got mostly) for most factions, and a few bad ones. So if you went evil in any way, you got a bad one usually. But overall it was still a fun time for me.

  • NSW, 2018, 1.5/10: Barely a game, or anything really. You just use a basic set of paint tools to paint pictures.

  • NSW, 2017, 3/10: A basic action platformer. You go around planets shooting generic enemy units, until you kill enough, and then head to the next level.

  • NSW, 2017, 4/10: A runner... it works... so yeah...

  • NSW, ???, 2/10: They also made a game call puzzle book, couldn't find it in the list... well, didn't look too hard, cause it isn't worth it. Just a simple puzzle mini-game that was pushed into a full game it seems. Picking up pieces and putting them on the board in the right spot.

  • NSW, 2017, 2.5/10: A one hit kill 2d fighter. The move set is horribly simple, so it wasn't fun.

  • NSW, 2019, 2.5/10: A platformer, adventure game where you are a ball thingy. The controls were bad, and the levels bland.

  • NSW, 2019, 2/10: Another runner like game, except the levels were boxes, and you bounced off the walls (to switch directions).

  • NSW, ???, 3/10: A racing runner game. Couldn't find the actual game in the system, so went with the generic race title. The game title is #RaceDieRun

  • NSW, ???, 3/10: Once again, couldn't find the actual game in the system, it just called REKT. It seems to be a stunt driving game, kind of like a skateboarding game, but not good.

  • NSW, 2018, 4.5/10: A rogue like where your guy just has a bow and arrow... there probably more to it later on, but i don't like rogue likes when i can't cheat at them, so i didn't play for too long. The game was mediocre, which make it one of the better ones from these freebies.

  • NSW, ???, 4/10: A top down shooter that is divided into short levels, and feels very free to play-ish. If i had 3 people to play with, the co-op might be a decent time waster, but it isn't worth playing on my own.
