    Red Dead Redemption

    I'm really hoping this game doesn't get all the 9's and 10'a that GTA IV got and be as lame as that game was...anyone else feeling that?

    Folks be careful, this is IGN... in fact it's IGN UK who are growing a reputation for overscoring games. Eurogamer review seems fairer, though I get the feeling the reviewer is comparing it to much to Just Cause 2 and Red Faction: Guerilla.  
      
    Been years since I last trusted a review from IGN.

    All the early reviews will be positive - they can't have put that many hours in to the game to get day one reviews with limited availability of review copies.
     
    I am sure people will have complaints in later reviews/critics as extensive play reveals flaws and quirks.
     
    Not sure why everyone has to bash GTA though.  Still a 9 for me.

    To be fair, a lot of the reviews and previews have pretty much said it's Grand Theft Auto: Wild West. Sounds great to me, there are some key differences though. The time zone is a big enough difference to make checking this game worth your time.

    But I am sick of people saying that because GTA controlled funny or something like that they are gonna hate this game.

    All i read was the last paragraph but i dont think red faction is a game to compare to it... the destruction was fun for an hour or 2 but then got boring fast since the mission structure sucked.Also didn't really enjoy the combat

    I loved San Andres, but I really thought that the structure of GTA Iv's missions were so boring and a complete letdown to the creativity that they could have done with the game. 
     
    That, and getting called every second to go hang out with someone I didn't care about to do some boring mini-game or watch strippers dance was boring a little weird.  
     
    I'm hoping this game is great, as I want a good wild west game, I'm just not going to buy the high review hype from Rockstar.

    Biggest nordic games magazine (gamereactor) gave it a perfect 10/10 
    Conclusion: Best western game ever, and a masterpiece no-one should miss.

    True - all versions of IGN tend to overscore games they like - but then eurogamer under score in the "we use the full 1-10 scale like Edge do" way.

    Seems rockstar did not give IGN a PS3 version of the game to play early.
