Rhythm Heaven Review
Nintendo brings you another game which is built to utilize the touch screen of the DS. You will be going through levels of different rhythm themes and I can't stress enough how important staying on beat is. This is not a game for those who can't keep a beat.
The graphics look hand drawn. It also leaves you wishing that maybe they put a little bit more into the game. It's not as crude as the Wario Ware levels, but its not that far off either. Some of the levels do look different which leads me to believe that there were a bunch of people who were charged with creating a rhythm themed level.
The music and sound might be simplistic, but as it is a rhythm game this is a game that you have to listen to what is going on. If you don't and you can still get through the game then you are the god of gaming as the actions you take are based on the rhythm in the game.
The controls are very simple you are going to be flicking the stylus across the screen or tapping the screen with the stylus. There are some times when you are trying to stay on beat and your actions aren't taken as fast as you need them to be. In a rhythm game the controls need to be fast and tight, but there are rough spots.
So the object of the game is simply do well enough on a level to open up another one, do it well enough and get medals that will allow you to do other small little mini-games. There's also a cafe that can help you out or give you a break from the action if you need it.
When you really boil down this game there's really not a whole lot to it. If you are quick on your feet and have good rhythm skills you are going find that this game doesn't have much to it. For most of us we'll be able to skirt by some of the levels, and knock some of the levels out of the park. If you are looking for a game to pass some time and you can just rent, get this game, if not, you really don't have to get this game. This game gets a 6.8 out of 10.
