Saints Row IV: If this is the future of Open World Games, I welcome our new intergalactic Saint Overlords.
Ever since Grand Theft Auto IV came out I have been bored with Rockstar's car jacking simulator. I found its story well told but boring and its game play sluggish and too "techdemo"-y. Saints Row 2 brought back what I loved in the series. Wacky open world fun with a large portion of insanity and humor. Saints Row The Third also brought that feeling to me as well and I enjoyed it. Saints Row IV however has blown the concept literally into outer fucking space.
From the super powers to the returning characters to the tongue-in-cheek cranked to 11 humor you'll be in love with this game from the intro onward. You'll want to do all the distractions and missions and all of your homie's loyalty missions just to see where the game goes. From wacky 1950's town gone wrong to a giant saints flow monster terrorizing your friend to a 2D double dragon-esq beat em up you'll barely have time to go "What!?" before the game throws another curve ball at you. And when the game ends you'll be just as excited as I am to see what Volition does next.
GTAV may have realism and story telling down to an art, but I honestly just don't care anymore. I want more of this.
