I was really excited for THQ after hearing the Jason Rubin interview that was on gamespot the other day. By man, if Rubin trys to reign in Saint's Row... i just don't know...

I'm all for trying to imporve the company and do better and aim higher but I feel a lot of SR3 shouldn't be considered unworthy because its crazy. The game could be improved sure, but not because of content.

EDIT: Rubin has come out and said that his remarks where misinterpreted.

If he ruins Saints Row The Fourth, fuck that guy. Why change a winning formula because you'd be embarrassed to play it? It sold for a reason and was critically acclaimed for a reason. Don't fuck it up.

It embarrasses me too. Not the fact that you do dumb shit in the game, but the fact that it's perceived as a good game. That embarrasses me as a gamer.

That fucker made Way of the Warrior and Crash Bandicoot and he's "embarrassed" by Saint's Row? Jesus.

Not saying Skyrim or RDR are bad, I love em, I'm saying he's gonna attempt to copy the mastery of R*/Bethesda and fail, giving us... Mafia 2 with a bad story. 
Not saying I like SR3 either, but I do love the games that give me crazy fun which is what SR3 stands for.

Were the other saints row games that different in morality? Would you want your wife catching you playing GTA? I just don't see his comparisons. Saints Row is to Skyrim as apples are to oranges.

Saints Row was my favourite game of last year and I'll be really disappointed if they try and make it more serious. If that's the case, then what will make it any different than any other shitty GTA clone?

That's odd man, dude basically shitting all over his company's best selling game.. Anyway this is frustrating, dude doesn't seem to realize that there's a reason SR3 sold a bunch and was critically acclaimed, it stands as one of the only games that's proud to be stupid and over the top in a market of games striving for movie-like depth and tone. IMO that's why the game was so well received.

I do agree that at some points I did kinda wish It was less random stupidity and more SR2's parody, but I'd rather they up the stupidity even more than go all GTA4 with the franchise, that would be a terrible move with GTA5 and Watch Dogs around the corner.

I don't love SR3, but it was good for it was. For a new guy to the company you have to defend your team. Doing this isn't going to help your stance at THQ or with Volition. Volition is one of the biggest reasons that THQ is even alive at this point. It baffles me that Rubin said any of this stuff. It makes me worried for the new Saints Row game. Just let Volition do what they have to.

The interviewer in the article needs to be getting more of this. How's this for a loaded non question in a supposed "professional" interview:

"I haven't played the game, I confess to Rubin, because I wouldn't want to be caught playing it by my wife or my son. It would be embarrassing."

Rubin responded terribly, of course, but what the fuck?

That's not worth a mic drop. Saints Row: The Third is one of THQ's most successful titles. Their troubles are because of a tablet peripheral, not Saints Row.

You do realize that SR3 sold over 4 million copies right? The reason they're failing is because of uDRAW. SR3 was their most profitable game in a long while.

@triviaman09: It's more so a comment on this group's inability to accept change. I personally think Saints Row should be done. The joke only works once. I'd love to see the studio try their hand at something new other than being that 'Saints Row studio'. Red Faction Guerrilla was incredible, and it did so without being childish/offensive to half the population. Being crazy and fun doesn't have to come with the crutch of dick jokes, misogyny and childishness.

I had just as much unadulterated fun knocking down giant martian smokestacks with construction robots in Guerrilla as I did at any point in Saints Row, and I didn't have to feel guilty about it at the same time.

If this change means making it more like 2 but WAY more polished. More power to Rubin. (He also made Crash Bandicoot so he gets a pass from me)

Dude...this is not cool. STTT was great. Throwing them under the bus like that is a horrid first strike as a leader, and just totally paints this wrong. If he ruins SR...GAH.

I liked the humor in Saints Row 3, but as a game it was boring, all the game needs is better gameplay, and it doesn't sound like he wants to do that. What really bothers me is the Darksiders quote, not only it sounds like he wants to end the story before we can play as the other horsemen, it also seems like he completely diminishes the ideas of the developers.

I feel like we need to let him know what we think about his comments, in one way or another, before he destroys the great games that THQ has been creating lately.
