I still think there was hidden potential in all half-saiyans. I think if Gohan had certian levels he achieved, there has to be a level that hasnt been reached by the half breeds. To bad Gohan didnt have Vagetas attitude, or any of ther half breeds. They would of probably tapped to almost or even surpass level 4 saiyans... To bad we will never see that happening... OR MAYBE, DUN DU DUNNNNNN!!!.... jk, it will never happend.

I think this could have something to do with how strong Goku was when he had both of his kids. When Gohan was a young boy Goku couldn't even beat Raditz on his own who was a low-class Saiyan.
Gohan didn't become a Super Saiyan until his teenage years, but Gohan was always said to have extraordinary powers since he was a kid. Gohan also had to go through rigorous training to become a Super Saiyan, and had the councel of someone who had actually achieved it.
Goten and Trunks on the other hand became Super Saiyans really easily, but I think this is because of the fact that Goku and Vegeta had already attained the level of a Super Saiyan long before they were born.
In my opinion they are saiyan as long as they have inhibited more saiyan properties than regular human ones. Follow up thoughts... They seem to be stronger and their strenght is (I guess) based on the powerlevel at the time being of the one that were "impregnating", kinda kickass from a evolutionary point of view in my opinion which makes me wonder what would have happened if SS4 fusion was in progress during the "act" (fanart of the offspring anyone?). They however seem to age crappy in comparison to the saiyans that have only saiyan blood within their veins which I guess results in a lower threshold of power, when the "pure" (just wrong to say but you get my point) seems to be able to get infite strenght based on how much time they spend working out :-) Just thoughts, my memory can be deceiving me...

Why do you think SSJ 4 is a useless transformation? Its the most powerfull transformation that was ever reached by a Sayan. Anyways, the only pure bloods are obviously Goku and Vegeta, everyone else with sayan blood is half human and half sayan. And even they have the potential to be as strong as Goku, because remember, the sayans get stronger each time they regain their lost energy wether it be in training or battle.
P.S one more thing, half blooded sayans aren't really weaker, look how long it took Goku and Vegeta to get to Super Sayan level, and Trunks and Goten were able to do it as little kids! Without any kind of effort or special training I might add! It shocked both Gohan and Vegeta!!!
