If so, can you tell me what style of fighting game they are? I seen that this is going to be released soon form an ad on Gamespot. Any experiences from past games in the series are welcome.

The fourth 3D spin-off of the 2D Samurai Shodown series brings a colorful cast of new combatants and a new gameplay style reminiscent of the SoulCalibur series. It was developed for the series' 15th anniversary.
Has anyone played another Samurai Showdown game before?

" You could say it's similar to Street Fighter, well, Samurai Shodown II was. "

Well, despite being a huge fan I wouldn't even consider getting this travesty of a game... This new game is not a true reflection of the franchise, you would be very wrong to think that it is. This new game is actually offensive to some fans.
This is what Sam Sho is all about...
Samurai Shodown is a weapons based fighter that focuses heavily on counter attacking and precise timing, The prime skill of the game is attempting to draw attacks from your opponent in order to make him vulnerable to your own. I consider it the fighting game equivalent of a high stakes poker game. It can make for intense encounters where even the slightest mistake can be very costly. It's extremely fun once mastered, and it certainly requires mastering, it's definitely not a fighter where you can button mash your way through. The games ooze fantastic Japanese style, they all have wondeful colourful art and animation, lashings of blood, and awesome voice work.
If you don't have a Neo Geo knocking around, but do have a Wii, a PSP or PS2:
Samurai Shodown Anthology:

I had reviewed the Anthology on all formats, but I seem to have removed that blog a good while ago.
On Wii it gets *****, the value is great and all the games are Neo Geo perfect. On PSP and PS2, I'd give the game ****, because the resolution and sound take a notable dip in quality on both.
Individual games are available on the Wii's virtual console - 1 - *** 2 - ****
2 is considered the best, but I must say I'm rather partial to Sam Sho 4: Amakusa's Revenge: (review here)
" So this new game is terrible? I might give it a rent if I can find it, but man the graphics are bad. "Why not just skip it?

Get that instead, you'll have a drastically better time
I play Samurai Shodown 2 on my Wii. I think I bought it a long time ago because Jeff said he still plays it.
Yeah, I think Samurai Shodown 2 is the game you need.

" @Linkyshinks: That's why I said similar, not the same. "That's a pointless thing to say, at fighting games are similar.
