Overview
The Seattle Seahawks are a team in the National Football League. They play at CenturyLink Field in downtown Seattle, Washington. The team began play in 1976 as a member of the Western Division of the American Football Conference. However, prior to the 2002 season, the team transitioned to the National Football Conference as part of divisional realignments brought on by further expansion.
The Seahawks have appeared in the Super Bowl three times in their history. They first appeared in 2005 for Super Bowl XL, which they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-10. In 2014, they faced the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII and won the game with a blowout margin of 43-8. The Seahawks and Broncos are former division rivals, as they were both part of the AFC West before the Seahawks' move to the NFC. The Seahawks' latest appeared occurred in 2015 for Super Bowl XLIX against the New England Patriots. The Seahawks lost 28-24 on a last minute interception by the Patriots as the Seahawks attempted a 1-yard touchdown pass.
