He is one of the newest additions to Namco's Tekken series, introduced in Tekken 7, along with Lucky Chloe and others. He is the franchise's first Saudi Arabian fighter. His creation and character design involved Namco consulting their Middle-Eastern fanbase for ideas. As a result, he has not attracted any controversy so far, compared to Lucky Chloe whose character design was controversial with North American fans.
He bears a striking resemblance to Siba, another Arabian fighter from the Sega franchises Virtua Fighter and Fighters Megamix. Siba was in the prototype for the original Virtua Fighter, before being replaced by series protagonist Akira Yuki, but Siba eventually appeared in Fighters Megamix.
