So, yesterday's session. It was pretty cool, about 5 and a half hours of playing some Persona 3 FES. This is what happened:

Social link wise, we got Kenji to ten! It wasn't that awesome, but we ate ramen and that was cool. We've also became a couple with Yuko (the Kendo Team manager). We hadn't done this whole relationship thing before, and it's pretty confusing. At some point, it just said, "You should give her a gift." and popped up a menu saying what gifts we could give her. We tried picking them all, and it kept saying "You don't have this item." It turns out the only one we had was a book cover, but she didn't like that as much as I hoped. So, after that, we decided to buy all the items we saw in stores with the description "This could make a girl happy." On our second time, we have her a teddy bear, and that went over a lot better. If we have to play this guessing game with every girl we try to get with, this will get very annoying. But, we got to rank 8, which is where things get "Intimate". This means we can't hang out with other girls without her getting mad at us until we reach S. Link rank 10 with her. She then invited us to her house, but it didn't show that bit because this game doesn't want to be AO.

We also tried to hang out with Fuuka but we weren't badass enough to try her cooking so that didn't really work out. WE DID hang out with Drunk Monk though and he was drunk, as advertised. We also got to enter a culture club. After much debate, we decided to enter the music club because there was a fat kid playing cello. We didn't get to S. Link with him though, instead we had to S. Link with this nerdy kid. His dad is a doctor so he likes to treat people's illnesses and all the kids hate him for that. Which is kind of messed up, but it's Japan so whatever.

As for our dungeon crawling, it started off pretty bad, but got better. For the first couple nights, our buddies kept getting killed by beetles, so we couldn't get that far. Then, we had the brilliant idea to run away from the beetles, and things got a lot better from there. We fused a Pyro Jack into existence and he's six levels higher than Jack Frost so now he's our go-to guy. On this block's boss, we got beat about three times before defeating it. We didn't have Yukari (who's strong against wind) but instead had Junpei (who is weak to wind). This was definitely a hindrance considering the boss was a wind-caster. So, since Junpei kept getting killed, we decided to use this item that allowed us to deflect magic back at the enemy. The problem was, the enemy absorbed wind and got more health from it. So, it cast Magarula and we all deflected it back giving about 50% of his full health back. So, we died.

After that, we decided to wait until we could use Yukari again. We got him to about a quarter of health before we got Hama'd. Hama is a spell where it doesn't hit very often, but when it does, it's an instant kill. So, we had to fight him again. This time, we mostly got lucky and managed to get him to about a quarter of health again. We realized that we could do a fusion attack using Jack Frost and Pyro Jack called "Jack Brothers". This is the best spell in the whole game. What happens is a portrait of our character (without a shirt, inexplicably) pops up from the bottom of the screen and disappears. Then, you see Jack Frost and Pyro Jack in front of a microphone. They both go "Aaah." and then the boss just falls over. He's just like "What the fuck just happened!?" and gets downed by it. It's so awesome, and let us do an all-out attack and do 72 damage. It was my favourite part of the game so far.

The storyline's actually starting to get pretty good now. We keep hearing rumours of this website where people can write down who they want revenge on, and then they get attacked. We saw a cut-scene where a group of three weird-looking dudes shoot this kid during the Dark Hour, and say "We're just doing what our client says.". I'm sure these two things are directly related.

So, we're about 20 hours in now, and I'm still thoroughly enjoying it
