Hey @benpack they seem to have been mostly cleared up now but a while ago there was a LOT of spam on comments on the forums from some nice Chinese gentlemen who seemed to have ready access to various degrees, be they science based or otherwise. Maybe you should hit them up so you can finally be recognized as a full fledged senior scientist?

I remember Time Killers sitting next to the line of MK machines at one of my local arcades and it got NO play.

One day...one day Ben will earn that lab coat.

At some point the skits got in the way of the Video Games.

TIL that Time Killers and Time Slaughter are completely different games by entirely different teams. Huh. Always conflated the two in my head. They seem so similar in terms of style and, well, quality. Although that's for science to decide definitively.

Edit: looked up the latter on youtube and well. Let's just say the edgelord is strong with that one. Ugh.

When the two women characters fought, it said "CAT FIGHT!". Stay classy Bloodstorm.

How dare Ben skip hoops and grant himself a doctorate and a right to wear THE Labcoat. Luckily everything got resolved.

For what I saw I think Time Slaughter should have been placed above Ballz, but i can't argue with Science, those controls looked unresponsive.

Bloodstorm is a great example of how not to do game design. There's a lot of deep mechanics in the game (some of which I don't think are in any other fighting game) that's hidden away due to jank controls, bad presentation, and no mention. People just mashed buttons for a shitty time and went back to MK.

I mean, everyone has a "gauntlet" weapon that has its own universal special move and "throw" mechanic (where you can throw the gauntlet and pick it back up, even picking up your enemy's gauntlet), which sounds cool as hell, but you wouldn't know that firsthand without reading a FAQ. Hell, the RoF crew had a huge-ass FAQ and they still had trouble understanding how the game works.

The password system is probably the best example of this. You just randomly press buttons after picking a character, seeing "Password" on the screen, have no idea what's happening, and then hear "Stored".

It's a bad fighting game, but I'd like to see a new better fighting game with a lot of its gameplay mechanics.

I have extremely fond memories of playing Time Killers as a child.

Jeff fell back on his Dive Kick experience to clutch out that armless win in Time Killers. Beautiful, frankly.

I have a major soft spot for both of these games, but... yeah, they're not good.

Edit: And the way to play Time Killers is to pick Mantazz and spam his buzzsaw move over and over.

Ben buries himself in a mountain of debt for his degree and the old heads of the fighting sciences community are still holding him back. You know I'm shocked... but not surprised.

Oh come on, you can get your arms chopped off and still fight towards an armless victory in these games. That's worth a couple spots higher on the list at least.

I feel privileged to have just seen 2 of the best fighting games ever made in action. On another note, I wish Ben would realize that true science accreditation comes to those that are patient and those who know how to properly print a game FAQ. It's no wonder he's taking these streetcoat shortcuts. Shame.

Time Killers was so crappily coded that in less than 30 minutes of casual gameplay, the GB Science Team managed to encounter an amazing bug despite the fact that they were playing a patched version (ver 1.32) of the game.

These games *earned* their spots on the list, dammit.

Man, talk about the gap between memory and reality--I remember thinking Time Killers looked amazing when I played it as a kid, but yikes!

Well crap. I didn't realize my wedding ring was made of just a color.

I am enjoying the ongoing lab coat drama. It makes this arc of Ranking of Fighters one for the history books.

I remember Time Killers being better, but when I thought more about it I think that's because at the time it was like a legend "Yo, did you play that one game- Time Killers- where you can cut off people's arms?" I think that might actually have been what it was and I never actually played it.
