They're gonna do GOTY in January due to COVID and having everyone being in different time zones (as well as home stuff like kids).

Doing Game of the Year in January seems like such a smart, no-brainer idea to me. I've always thought that there's really no reason to cram it into December (which is already a busy month with the holidays), when the year isn't even finished yet.

I would honestly be thrilled if they kept this format going forward.

Some time in the mid 90s I went to Otakon and there was some sort of medical supply convention happen at the same time. I was riding in an elevator and a guy in a suit asked me what Otakon was and when I explained it was anime, his eyes lit up and he told his friend "I bet they sell swords. We should buy swords."

I do not know if they bought swords, but I hope they did.

I hope Brad’s aware now of the two additional maps that came out for Hitman 2 (a New York bank heist and a Maldives Fantasy Island-style level). I was playing through those to prep myself for Hitman 3.. what a good game!

@brad back in the early 00s before I got my license, I made a deal with my uncle that I would go to concerts he wanted to see if he drove me to concerts I wanted to see. He chose "Glam Slam Metal Jam" as one of his concerts. It was Quiet Riot, Warrant, and Poison.

Call of the Sea is really well made. One of my favorite releases of 2020. I hope Brad and others get a chance to try it. It deserves at least a nomination for Best Style.

Sorry, it's just that I feel like you guys have made this mistakes several times in the past so wanted to point this out. I think initially the confusion was due to Alienation coming out, with both games being duel stick shooter Playstation exclusives that were about shooting aliens. Stormdivers is a different game entirely.

@dirty_duck: they've already recorded the worst songs of the 90's and it's going up tomorrow morning but I and many other people suggested Higher by Creed when the call went out on twitter. So Hopefully it gets on the list (higher is really bad but i think i hate arms wide open more)

@paulmd: Jeff has to be talking about PC Gamer's GOTY pick. Hasn't gone up on the site yet the way they are rolling out their selections but i'm an old fossil who still gets the magazine and everything is in there.

@robertforster: not really surprising given their tastes and opinions. they wrote off the witcher 3 when it came out due to some bugs and bad ui if i remember correctly. jeff playing the super buggy pre-release copy of cyberpunk and the absolute bungling of the console releases essentially poisoned the well for him, and by extension the rest of the gb crew. ostensibly the biggest release of the year and only jeff has actually played through it. vinny played a few hours and alex decided to get the known most busted version so he could play tens of minutes then throw his hands up and call it bad.

the game needed probably another year at least to flesh out the content, refine the main plot and side quests, optimize for the various platforms and quashing bugs. hell, if it came out in 2021 they couldve skipped releasing on last gen consoles and completely avoided the headache of developing for junkass underpowered hardware. there are kernels of greatness there but it needed more time in development.

that said ive been having a fun enough time and am close to 100 hours in, currently going around mopping up the side content before starting the end game. i agree with what jeff said on the hotspot, calling it a 4 out of 5 star game. the increasing hyperbole about how bad it is seems to be jeff reacting to pushback by fans who are overly invested in it

Can the person who called in about the car seat covers call back in and tell us what type of car it was? I assume a Juggalow Rider.

Why do the show notes on the bombcast sometimes cut off in the middle or words or sentences in my podcast app? The beast cast doesn't have that issue. I'm using the premi RSS feed and I don't think it's length related.

@jscovic: They did mention Deathloop very briefly, but it's odd they didn't mention the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake at all. If that lands on its feet I'm very interested in playing that.

Jeff was talking about a full game's worth of post-release episodic content (basically Hitman 4), not just the two maps we got for Hitman 2 closely after launch.

If even half of the games listed in the 2021 segment come out next year, it's going to blow this year out of the water.
