i dont know how having don matrick out is a bad thing at this point. it means a clear change of direction. whats his face is bias upon bias.

look at ken kutaragi he was kicked out of ps as well.

The Don Mattrick thing is definitely iffy, but I certainly never considered him core to the XBox brand. I never got a sense that he was more than just a pretty face to shove in front of the camera (he did have a history in videogame development, but it's hard to tell if any of that still carries over).

But to have such a massive shakeup months before a console launch.. If they were already this disorganized and internally confused, I can't imagine what it's like in the offices of MS right now. They've leveled the playing field with the full-on 180, but I can't imagine everything will be perfectly smooth from here on out.

I'd go for some ENB if there was a DS podcast...

Strong rumors of being 6 months behind in development, horrible chip yields, downclocking, then they show tone deaf policies, horrible frame rates on running boxes at E3 (Dead Rising), and lead executives deploying golden parachutes.

rock solid podcast, no real criticisms this week.

if i had to be nitpicky, its JJ being a bit cynical on the stuff shown at E3, surprised that destiny was the only thing that felt next gen to him.

@mrfluke: I dunno, it just felt like there wasn't really anything there that was like "This is impossible on your current machines, this is why you're spending 400-500 dollars in the next year" Destiny wasn't that either really, but it had an ambition the other titles I feel did not.

That Pikachu scares the shit outta me.

Forget the E3 high, I just finished Last of Us and need to laugh again...

i dunno, maybe ive just come to not expect that kind of mario 64 level amazement in my year 1 games and just look forward to the experiences of the games which i thought there were some potentially cool looking games at launch/early 2014.

next year's E3 is when you'll possibly get teases of the real crazy stuff when like deep down is an actual game.

way i see it, everyone has their types of games that directly grab them (like how ricardi seemed to like the indie stuff over AAA games at E3) seems you didn't have a game at e3 that grabbed you.(which is totally fine)

True, but that was after the PS3 launched (which was too late to instigate the turnaround that thing needed much earlier). However, it looks like he's a rat abandoning a sinking ship by doing it early.

@satelliteoflove: Right yet Microsoft isn't sinking and at no point has ever been as vulnerable as Sony is/was. Kutaragi is the reason the PS brand exists, whilst I've never gotten the impression Mattrick was equally integral to the process concerning the Xbox, he wasn't even around until the 360. Visionary? No. Someone you trust to keep the ship pointed in the direction you left it? Yes.

Not to mention this has all supposedly been happening for awhile, having to do more with corporate structure than any supposed weaknesses in the upcoming Xbox lineup, or "vision".

The Bombcast had a pretty cogent and reasonable take on this whole thing. To go from that to whatever this incoherent "discussion" was is unpalatable to say the least, it makes me feel like I'm at the kids table. I'm actually leaning towards the PS4, yet during this conversation I started to feel like an Xbox fanboy.

Also Ricciardi, does anyone actually enjoy listening to this guy?

Nope. not with amazing arguments like, "you're wrong, you're just wrong dude!" Less screechy irrational talking over people and more listening and thought would go a long way.

I fell asleep listening to this podcast (out of lack of sleep, not boring content of course). Woke up to that Mario Fruit Snack rap thing. Thought I was having a fever dream throughout the entire thing.

I Cant believe how Bias some of the cast members on this podcast are.

I've never heard this podcast before but having just heard what that guy says about "We Built This City On Rock 'n' Roll" within the first five minutes I already have grave doubts. For a start, that song is by Starship, not Jefferson Starship, and Jefferson Starship did loads of great songs after changing the name from Jefferson Airplane. In gaming terms this is a bit like saying "Pikmin 3 is the best Mario game since Ocarina of Time".

@sordel: It's a popular opinion that "We Built This City" is a pretty bad song. I'm inclined to agree.

@chaser324: I'm not saying that "We Built The City" is anything special (though certainly I find that claim that it's one of the worst singles ever a bit much) but saying that everything done by Jefferson Starship was rubbish is to overlook the fact that they did eight albums (all of them certified Gold or Platinum) before they dropped the "Jefferson" and recorded Knee-Deep In The Hoopla. Red Octopus was a No. 1 album in the U.S.

To be fair, the rest of that podcast was pretty good, so I'm not saying that the podcast is bad ... I just shudder when I hear someone unloading some "amusing" opinion that makes it clear that he actually knows nothing at all about the subject he is launching into. Just because this guy's probably heard "White Rabbit" on some soundtrack album he acts like he's entitled to evaluate the nearly fifty year career of the Jefferson family of bands.
