Quick Look: Alex Gives Rambo: The Video Game a Shot

Admit it Alex, deep down the game grew on you. Not a great game, but far from the worst rail-shooter ever made.

I still do not understand how this game got made. Great video Alex, cheered up an otherwise miserable day with the mother of all hangovers.

Paraphrasing from the last 'Bombin' the A.M', but didn't Alex say: "Doing a Quick Look of another Quick Look is a sure-fire way to get fired from the site". What makes this different?

I just watched the Quick Look of this game, and I'm sorry Alex, but I don't think I can take a full hour more of this game.

For some reason, this is what I expected today, not the Ql. yeah, his face is fucked up. his whole body model is F..... up. And the bad guys keep lining themselves up to bad music.

If it was made up of variations of "RAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!" and Sylvester Stallone quotes (not even Rambo specifically) it would actually make the game amazing.

You should do more Quick Looks and Bombasticas.

The extensive coverage Giant Bomb has given this game has made me really want to watch First Blood.

Also Alex should do more Quick Look Solo type things. This was a really fun watch (it's always nice seeing janky games getting theirs), and dammit it's just great having Alex doing videos; he's got a distinct opinion and voice, and he's far better being in front of the camera/behind a mic than he thinks he is.

I feel like this game takes place in some dark future where an entire town in run by clones of a corrupt sheriff.

@sparklehorse: This was done live, Jeff commented they recorded a Quick Look as the livestream ended. Alex did this stream because he was bewildered at this game's existence.

While Dark Souls is one of my favorite games of the past couple years, I too can not stand the weird obsession that has suddenly come over Giant Bomb with it, luckily Alex is more than willing to put himself through hell for our enjoyment

Anyone else feel like Sylvester Stallone actually coded this game himself?

Can a Rambo fan explain to me why the cops in the first movie are fucking insane? I get that Rambo might have sort of a death wish and that the Sheriff would be pissed off that Rambo sorta-killed his friend, but that all happens after the cops bully Rambo (and eventually start shooting to kill) for no good reason. Is there a good reason? Or a reason?

I love that Alex was clearly starting to enjoy himself, but was in denial about it. I've totally been there with a number of games that were truly terrible yet I couldn't help liking.

Hey, man, it was the mid-1970s and law enforcement operated like cowboys especially towards anyone that threatened their control... I dunno.
The first Rambo was a pulpy-ass film that didn't quite realize that it's biggest selling point was an M60 and lots of explosions.

I'd be really happy if "@alex plays the first hour of [game]" became a regular feature on the site. Obviously the Quick Look overlap probably means it's a slightly redundant thing, but I'd like it.

It's like they knew they couldn't possibly do a FPS to compete with what's out there nowadays, because well, that's all there is nowadays.. so they ended up doing a sub par rail shooter instead...

Don't take this the wrong way Alex but watching you suffer brings me much joy. Thanks for doing this video. They would have been better off turning this into a UHF game.

Well yeah and that's the thing that I find the craziest about the movie. It doesn't give two shits for giving a decent reason to why they should have a war hero with an M60 against law-enforcers. It takes care of that problem with "These cops are evil and nuts. This veteran has PTD and is nuts." and goes on to blow stuff.

I love this feature. Rambo for the NES was a much better game.

Good job streaming Alex. Though if you're going to be doing more of these, you will probably want to invest in building a better PC, framerate was chunking up pretty bad in the later chapters. Get an nVidia card because they have built in record and streaming now that take far less of a performance hit than 3rd party capture tools.

They were talking about Patrick actually watching the Quick Look and commentating over it. This is Alex streaming the beginning of a game he's going to end up reviewing that just happened to also have a Quick Look on it.

What in the fuck. I had no idea this was on-rails...Just awful... but still pretty great. lol
