Anyone remember that Mega Man cartoon where Doctor Light had a lisp? That was weird right? Anyway, really looking forward to this, love Mega Man 2

Haven't pushed play yet and already Mega Man 2 music playing in my head!

I suspect ALL video game cartoons were weird. And Dr. Light's lisp was the least weird thing about them.

I can't believe that Alex said that MM3 was the "most polished" entry in the series. The later parts of that game are so slapdash, I hope he's misremembering and not an actual CRAZY PERSON

Never noticed how bittersweet Bubble Man's stage music sounds. Bittersweet like the tale of an artificial boy programmed to destroy his own kind for eternity.

The lisp wasn't even the thing about that version of Dr. Light. The acting was horrible, and he flubbed LITERALLY every single line. look up all of the clips of that VO. It is the optimization of only having enough time/ money for one take per scene.

I rarely comment on videos though I've watched forever, but I just cannot deal with Giant Bomb's insistence on Air Man first. Metal Man isn't very difficult to do without damage, and opens up so many routes! And it feels time wasteful to do Air Man without leaf shield, it makes it so fast!

I really do have so so much love for this game, and I'm super happy to see this series from Alex so far, regardless of the order he does! MM1's Blue Bombin was great, and I can't wait to see the rest!

@alucitary: I think I read somewhere that the devs very hastily got the first English-speaking people they could find in the local Japanese area, and like you said, pretty much took whatever takes they could get.

MegaMan 2 is such a fantastic game. I would probably hazard a guess that it's in my top 10 games of all time. Ever since I first traded a holographic Muk Pokemon card for a Mega Man 2 cartridge, I've been in love.

Air Man first is a travesty, but when I used to speed run the game I also did Air Man first because it was the most optimal and the most easy to screw up. Some of those skips and jumps are pretty precise (especially the Air Tikki fast jumps) and I'd much rather restart at the beginning of the run than halfway through.

I like these writers being schooled on English by the video guy

Dammit. I knew he would take 'normal' difficulty. In case anyone doesn't know, the original Japanese release of this game didn't have a difficulty selection, it was set to 'difficult'. 'Normal' is really an easy mode where you take half damage and deal twice as much damage. Which has the net effect of making this game super easy, you can DPS race practically every boss even if you don't use their weakness.

Hopefully the plan on playing Mega Man & Bass between 8 and 9

@alex You should keep in mind the Pump Man/Faucet Man designs for further down the road.

Dan is amazing and he is the best thing to happen to New York since Ali at MSG in 1985.

@alex Mega Man 1-6 all have different composers, its amazing how consistently great they are!

Bubble man stage brings back memories

@danryckert My family has been raising Cavalier King Charles (mixed with American Cocker Spaniel) puppies on and off for about a decade. They're fantastic dogs, good luck with yours!

I don't know where they got the Air Man first thing anyway. Air Man is definitely harder than Metal Man plus the Saw Blades are easily one of the most useful subweapons in ANY Mega Man. Not that it really matters if you know what you're doing.

Also:

I'll have to point out that there are some frogs that keep their young in their mouth. Check out the Darwin's Frog. The males keep tadpoles in their vocal sack, then spit 'em out when they're old enough.

@alex For future reference at the wall boss: Clear as many walls as you can in one life > die > refill crash bomber > return to the boss room with less walls to worry about > destroy the dome cannons, with weapon energy to spare.

Didn't realise Danger Mouse traveled over the pond. Used to love that as a kid. :D

@danryckert Yes, you can absolutely do the puzzle boss domes in any order. Just make sure to only break the wall on the far left and lower right. Or break as many as you can, die, and have a much easier time on your next attempt.

And you'd probably like tartar sauce now, unless the consistency is a problem. It's mayonnaise- or aioli-based with some chopped up pickles, onions and capers. Love it on bread with some homemade beef pâté. Or any meat, really.

Alex reviewed Mega Man Powered Up. He gave it an 8.5

I'm with Dan, I've never gotten a Whopper from Burger King. The only thing I have ever regularly gotten from BK is a chicken sandwich, and that is only when there wasn't a Chic-Fil-A around. McDonalds just seems superior in every way to BK aside from their chicken sandwiches.
