I've really been enjoying these because I've never played a Mega Man game and I'm not sure if I ever intend on changing that.

We're finally getting to the good Mega Mans! I kid, of course. But I seriously don't think the later games are as bad as people make them out to be. 5 especially is pretty fun.

Also, you have this video attached to the wrong game. "Mega Man IV" (note the roman numeral) is the Gameboy game, Mega Man 4 is the NES one.

Also, Toad Man. Also, any boss or big enemy. Honestly, the charge shot is kinda cheap. Also also, Pharaoh Shot can also be charged and is basically a stronger charge shot. Except when it's not.

Last addition: The Pharaoh Shot's "sun" (the thing hovering over your head) turns that last bit in Drill Man's stage into a cakewalk. It destroys both the dropping boulders and the flying enemies.

For a glorious second, I thought Dan was about to reveal that he thought the word "underworld" was invented for the movie, explaining the mixup. I was ready for some "egg whites" level Dannerisms there.

@alex Heads up, you missed two optional items. They're in Pharaoh and Dive Man's stages. I have no idea what they do since I haven't played this game in almost 25 years.

Somehow i just can't focus on the megaman games, while i am fully engaged by Castlevania. The bossbattles can be interesting at times though. But sometimes it also feels like the bossbattles turn into a batlle of HP attrition or using cheese.

I still catch the series live for the audio, but the games itself don't really do anything for me :(

Not that @vinny was not as poor as he claims he was, but um, 28K in the year 2000 ain't too shabby. Of course, Vinny was also living on his own, doing hard labor lugging cameras around, and probably didn't have food or insurance.

Balloon item is in Pharaoh man's stage before the drop down into the tomb, use rush to jump over the gap. It's a platform that you can spam 3 times like the "1" from mega man 2.

Wire item is in Dive man stage mid-way through there's a narrow hole, you fall down. yeah that's pretty useful for wily

This game smashes 3 on the merits of the improved engine alone. 3 was a slowdown nightmare.

As others have mentioned, I really hope they read these comments and get Alex to go back in the next episode and get the 2 hidden weapons in Pharoah/Dive Man's stages. Can you complete the game without them?

The number of things Vinny has taught me in the last few months is getting a little wild.

I'd like to hire him as a Life Consultant. But half the time he'd just tell me "hey, you should figure this stuff out on your own, not rely on me all the time", and I'd still consider it money well spent.

See why I don't like MM4's levels? And I even forgot some of the more superficial reasons why I dislike this game, like how the boss health bar takes twice as long to fill up as in all the previous games, as well as your own when you use an E tank, and they still have that annoying high pitched noise the whole way as if to rub it in! At least they introduced the charge shot (although it didn't take its modern, more useful form until 5) and the full screen pause menu...

uh oh, I hope I didn't come off as "poor me." I was psyched to have the job and it was more money than I'd ever seen in my life. I remember buying a universal remote control and thinking... I've made it!

Enjoying this run, but the critical mistake Alex keeps making is running. Slide or jump, running once slide was introduced to the series is usually not ever what you want to be doing.

So maybe this is a product of my youth here, I did not grow up with these games, but Megaman seems bad? I feel like every single level just looks awful.

It was Freddie Prince Jr (WWE writer at the time). Vince caught him watching a Richard Pryor stand up special, and argued that he should be watching Santino instead.

I would disagree with Dan in that John Wick 2 did the thing where a sequel gets bigger and in the process starts to lose that something which made the original so good. Same thing happened to the Matrix - they kept trying to one up the movie before it with bigger fights and more enemies and people didn't need 100 Smiths, they just wanted a few really well choreographed one on one fights.

That said it's a good movie, but I think the first one was better.

Now that's luxury.

Ah yes Dan, I'm sure the jokes you'd write about physics, biology and engineering would be great. To be fair I haven't watched the Big Bang Theory for a few years so it could be they've moved away from the sciences. But based on what we've heard of your knowledge about these subjects in the Beastcast... I'm sure you'd do just fine.
