As a Dominican-American, I found Patrick's insights into his experience vacationing in the capital. And he's right, it is kind of weird seeing how the country is basically marketed for tourists, while knowing just how poor and corrupt the country is throughout. But, from what I understand it's a really great place for to vacation. I have family that tell stories of how you can pretty much spend the entire time drunk, walking in the streets drinking liquor. Far as I know, Presidente is the beer of choice. But, could just be that it's the best one that can be exported out of DR here to the States. I, and every Dominican I know, pretty much goes for Presidente beer. It can also be a very dangerous place if you travel outside some of the less touristy parts, usually outside of Santo Domingo. It's still a beautiful place, and it's where my father and his side of the family is from, so pretty cool for me to hear it getting rep here on Giant Bomb.

A clarification about the whole GameCube controller situation: The photos Nintendo released of the adapter also showed a controller branded with the new Smash Bros. game's logo, so presumably they'll be selling new controllers.

The partnership with PDP is a separate thing--those are really just third-party Wii U Pro Controllers designed to look kinda like GameCube controllers.

When you're moving to the NYC area but are nearing your 40s, have a family, and are looking for something affordable, NJ doesn't sound all too bad. I have a feeling he'll probably end up in Bergen County, which is north of Newark and across the Hudson from Yonkers. It's not too far from the big city and has some really nice suburban areas which I'm sure was his main priority.

I think the NJ part is temporary until the new place is ready.

I wouldn't say "slip". They've been fairly open about it lately, with Vinny telling people near what town he'll be living in on Twitter, and Brad asking on the most recent Bombcast "wait, that counts as New York?" and them talking about NJ.

@alex Only 14 minutes into the episode, but episode 1 of Wolf Among Us definitely had an excellent cliffhanger. I agree ep 3 was good as well, so even if 4 stinks (havent played it yet), 2 out of 4 isn't terrible.

Didn't they make it explicitly clear, twice, that Vinny was moving to NJ temporarily until the house they (presumably) purchased was finished 1-2 months later? If you're working in Manhattan the commute from most of North-east NJ is comparable to the outer boroughs of NY, so I can see why that would be a good short-term solution.

He even spelled out how stuff would be in storage until the house was ready. So my impression was he is definitely moving to NY ultimately, with NJ as a stop-gap. Anyway, in the words of Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force "Jersey Rules. You can't do a thing about it man, Jersey Rules."

I'd hold off on starting watchdogs as quite a few people are reporting their save files becoming corrupted with no sure way to fix it. I've fallen victim to this as well with about 20 some hours into the game already. Hopefully they push a fix out in the next couple days that doesn't require me to start from scratch again....

What the hell? I cranked The Audition when I was younger - had 0 idea he was any relation to Patrick. Strange world. They kind of tried to ride the emo-rock wave; they were pretty catchy though.

Almost all of Patrick's headlines have some sort of word usage error that makes it seem like English is not his first language.

Based on the description of the nightly "adult show" it sounds like I've been to that same resort in the Dominican (Bahia Principe).

Good times! For me it was three high school friends just hanging out sipping straight rum *all day long*. Patrick's right about the price seeming kinda high before you go but like a pretty sweet deal afterwards.

As soon as they announced the GC controller adapter, I whipped out my Wavebird and placed it on top of my Wii U to remind myself that I have a Wii U.

You know, they might just have a warehouse full of GameCube controllers lying around somewhere. I just picked up a few new ones off eBay for 8 bucks apiece.

...Weirdly enough, I've been playing tons of GameCube lately.

Dungeon Keeper WAS a bad game with a pricetag that continued to go up with nearly every action you made in it.

It's soooooo nice to just unplug from everything once in a while.

No doubt there is some kind of disconnect between the all-inclusive resorts and the rest of the country (I've been to Dominican but I've never been to an all-inclusive resort), but the implication that Santo Domingo is some kind of horrible place is a load of crap. Plenty of nice museums, great weather of course, etc.

Plus, by American standards, dirt cheap. I had a coworker from Puerto Rico who used to vacation there all the time.
