This is probably the best and most informative Bombin' the A.M. so far. Rami's perspective on things is completely different than the typical wackadoo game devs we typically get to hear from on this site. Don't get me wrong though, love me some wackadoos!

Great episode, Rami is super interesting to hear from. His stuff at the GDC was fascinating and this is just as good.

The Google Hangout was super laggy, Rami being in the Netherlands, and when the call lags it defaults back to audio to keep the call alive

Happened to me to JJOR64 at about 10-15 seconds in it stopped playing for about 10 seconds and then it was out of sync. I had to hit pause and play again to get it back in in sync.

Credit to Sebastiaan ter Burg for taking this photo of Rami Ismail.

Man, when is that photo from? Because having watched the GB GDC livestream, and then having talked to Rami in person at PAX East, his hair and beard sure look different compared to the photo!

Rami really took over this episode. I mean it as a good thing. He's becoming one of my favorite developers, what a well spoken and passionate guy.

Is that the dude who pretty much told Paul Barnett in a very polite manner how not to screw over the consumer during the GDC livestream on GB? I'll probably watch this then.

Man I did not like this. This relates to my main problem with guests (mainly game developers) is that they turn the show into a live dumptruck. I don't mind interviews, but BitAM's are short bombcast to me, not interviews so it is very disappointing to me when guests are the focus of the show. It would be cool if you do maybe a BitAM and a interview focus video also, but that of course is unrealistic.

I don't mind the interview approach when they have guests. It's not like they have much news to talk about on these Monday shows.

Yes, and yes. Rami seems to be quickly rising as a leader in the 'indie' scene for his support of the community and intelligent/articulate commentary on the state of development/publishing. (I seem to like /s). Not that I am a developer, but I tend to stop and listen when he's talking. It also helps that vlambeer puts out great games.

He has been on joystiq podcasts at events like GDC and Gamescom for quite sometime, glad that Giant Bomb is getting some time with him as well.

@ilikepopcans: I feel the opposite, especially when these interview Bombin' videos only happen about once a month. It's a good way to shake things up imo.

It's hard to get a personal view on a game with 100 people working on it.

*sigh* You Apple people and your lack of mp3 players with FM tuners which have been out for over a decade. Seriously, Apple is way behind the times.

Guys like Rami are why I love the indie scene so much. I love being personally and emotionally invested in a game. I really like rooting for these smaller companies making great, original games.

It's funny, I live in Ireland and had no idea there was an indie game development scene there, let alone an event on in Dublin with Rami at it. Rami is definitely being proactive with his indie support when, as a person from the Netherlands, knows more about the scene in my country than I even do.

I gotta get up on my knowledge.

Just to add to the chorus of plaudits, this is probably my favourite in what has been a very good series of videos/podcasts. Every time I've heard Rami speak on video games, it's been some of the most interesting and eloquent discourse out there, so any more of the same would be extremely welcome.

Have to sort of agree with this. I don't mind guests but what I like about it is them having an extra person on the show and giving their input on the usual format.

  1. The guest is on, they briefly talk about something directly related to that person.
  2. They move on to what they've been playing which includes the guest. I find it interesting to hear what games a developer finds interesting and why.
  3. Then move on to news or other current events and get the guest's input on those subjects
  4. Viewer questions. Either specifically for the guest or other random questions with the guest's input.
  5. And then they give the guest a chance to plug their stuff alongside the other usual closing comments.

I look at the show as a video form Bombcast with Patrick and Alex. This felt a little too Dumptruck-y. I'd be fine with a separate video for that.

....Or make Bombin' in the A.M. a 2 hour show because I can't get enough GB content in general.

Keep up the good work!

I can see this being more for a Dumptruck, but this was kind of a slow news day and I really liked hearing about gaming in South Africa and Turkey, so I didn't mind it so much. Also, I got to hear my username out loud, so I'm biased XD

Also, I spotted him here in UK at the EGX Rezzed. He's a cool person to follow.

What is this guy talking about? 100 degrees C is water boiling temperature, 0 degrees is water freezing temperature. Normal body temp is 36 ish. Fever is 37+. He said its 60 outside? Thats like... insane, everyone is dead type of temp.

Maybe he was talking about Fahrenheit with the horse and all? He did say Celsius though.

@mysterysheep: it was more of a developer event, and Rami only showed up cos we asked him over! Awesome of him to come though, and on really short notice (he read the email on friday, and was ona flight saturday morning) there are a few indies around ireland, im one fifth of bitsmith- bithsmithgames.com, other notables are batcat games, lopoly, snozbot, pewter games, six minute, digit, exgamer studios, haunted planet. Theres probably loads more that im forgetting. Tis a really new industry here so theres not too many games out yet, but that will change soon!

The same. More diplomatic than Jonathan Blow's feedback for E from Microsoft, but still very spot on.
