The only thing that is frustrating me about this series it's obvious Brad doesn't want to play as a magic user and much prefers to use his sword yet he's not levelling up in that direction much. I could be wrong but I think even he'd be happier if he just made a call and went that way instead of this constant fussing over whether or not the magic is too cheap.

No joke, it's actually disturbing how much Brad cares about the lizards. I cringe every time he screams after missing one. I think he has a problem.

We left that fork in the road behind us a long, long time ago. Also Brad inevitably comes back to magic whenever he finds himself in a crutch situation, particularly when it comes time for boss fights. In a way it's great for the series - think how far along we would be if Brad actually played straight melee? We should all be glad he's using a very, efficient, character/weapon combination set for the sake of progress alone. The only downside is that he hasn't really trained himself to be a good melee fighter, and his powerful weapon is helping out in getting out of scuffles through sheer brute force.

If I remember correctly Garl Vinland has highly magic resistant armor and a shield which might force Brad to take him on in pure melee form with a weapon that technically shouldn't do a lot of damage as the magic buff should be mostly eaten up by the armor. Thankfully Garl Vinland is a lot less challenging than the road leading up to him.

I thought the same thing. Wow he had a good eye for that.

Gods when Brad went for that freakin' lizard instead of the crossbow cannon thing I nearly lost my shit...

Especially since he doesn't seem particularly interested in the stuff they drop, he seems to be all about killing the poor little things.

Brad saved Yuria, hurray! I'm kind of glad he didn't look at the description for the bloody key, it would've made the happy-go-trolly stream dark real fast.

On another note I'm pretty sure Biorr was supposed to give Brad unique dialogue when he wore the fat minister's cap. Something along the lines of "Fuck off pal or I'll gut ya". Oh well.

Man, asshole invaders make the otherwise promising online in this game suck so much. I had one invade me in this same area who did nothing but attempt to scraping spear and hug the NPC. I eventually jumped off the cliff because it wasn't worth the effort or lost souls.

The first time I was invaded ended the same way, at that same spot. Luckily, the invader fell off the cliff with me. Unluckily, I was trolled into accidentally killing that merchant. Oops!

I'm going to watch this now and I hope this is less of Brad stupidly screaming at lizards than in last week's episode.

@peterdotorg: @deathpooky: I don't know if 4-2 is a common spot for PVP trolling or if it's just that one guy making a career out of it, but Brad's invader used the same shenanigans on me last week. And yeah, I inadvertently killed the merchant. I'm ashamed that I recognized the invader's name.

Since it's a nice grinding area with the necromancer, I imagine it is pretty big for trolling.

They did a lot to take out the pure griefing tactics in Dark Souls like the scraping spear and fewer NPCs in battle areas, so I'm hopeful in Dark Souls 2 they'll make more improvements to have fun invasions instead of mostly assholes. Though they better be good at weeding out assholes since there's no way to avoid invasions in Dark Souls 2, otherwise that could effectively ruin that game.

It's always been the most heavily trafficked PVP area, and weird techniques like that spread quickly, what with Youtube and all; especially considering most people playing Demon's Souls right now are the type to look up stupid stuff like that for the game.

Kind of rough loosing to that invader with such an impressive shield move, but that was honest. However he trying to get Brad to do something stupid like swing on him with the merchant around, even I would know not to do that on a primary basis.

Brad is doing good in this game. I didn't do summons signs either in dark souls, even though I sure could have used it. And every time I beat a boss, I knew who did it. and more importantly, how. How he should be gearing himself, isn't it what works? Does seem like magic is his significant secondary....

Can someone just give them even the vaguest idea of how upgrading and making things with boss souls works, please?

Is it just me or does anyone else think Brad should be keeping his shield up more? I feel like there are so many parts he could survive if he just blocked instead of letting down his guard and staring/thinking.

Also sometimes he'll keep mashing attack and other times he just stands there. I keep yelling at him to attack. It's especially bad against the invaders. His character seems strong enough to stand a good chance of killing them, but he stays back way too much.

I guess his Starcraft/Dota2 micro skills didn't carry over. It was funny in the previous videos when he kept using the wrong item/spell because he switched to another item and forgot to switch back.

The lizard addiction of brad is literally the funniest shit ever. I'm probably the only person who prefers Brad behind the wheel in a souls game rather than Vinny. Vinny's trolling is alot more entertaining than 2 other guys telling him where to go and what to do.

Granted, Brad has had one or two fair fights (and actually almost beat the original scraping spear guy if he had just remembered to heal more), but I think the fair ones have probably mostly been GB users who started playing the game around the same time as Brad. The instances where Brad won really cannot have possibly been guys who have been doing this for months/years.

Like, invasions are a cool idea in theory, From Software, but you're too much of a shit developer to properly balance PvP. No offense, but I feel like From is kind of a bad developer that just made a good game by complete fluke (Demon's Souls), and are now riding it because it became a big weird hit. You lucked out and made this super interesting game, but balancing multiplayer is still not your strong point.

Like, really? The NPCs remain in the world during invasions, and are perfectly hittable? You never considered that players (who one should always assume are awful people) might bait others into attacking NPCs, since there is no repercussions to the invading player? From Software: a bunch of fucking amateurs.

No, you see, it's the opposite. Brad's screams about lizards and getting distracted by them is fantastic.

I cringe seeing Brad beating the flamelurker in 2 tries and getting recked over and over again by the dragon god which is the easiest boss in the game. Playing in easy mode as a Royal (almost no need to melee) and having someone constantly feeding you the solution to problems or making you skip complete areas of the game, in addition to reading stuff off from the internet, kind of defeats the purpose of making this playthough.

To be honest, I'd much rather have them try and fail to balance it perfectly, than never have tried at all. In Dark Souls, I had some of the best moments in gaming when getting invaded or being summoned. Yeah, there are some shit moments too, but I wouldn't give up the good ones to escape the bad ones.

Also, they are trying to address the invasion issues in Dark Souls II. Probably won't get it perfect, but it'll improve.

I don't know. I love invasions. I hope they never rid of invasions because of people complaining.

It is amazing how little skill Brad has to back up his bravado. I love it when he cracks.
