@brad More details on the end story: basically, the Allant you defeated in the palace was nothing but a Demon created by the true Allant in his own image. What you fought inside the Old One was Allant's true form, reduced to a pathetic slug by the corrupting power of the demon's souls. He says there has never been a human with such an insatiable appetite for souls as you. Even the Maiden in Black calls you a demon at this point. It's meant to make you stop and think: what have I been doing all this for? Is what I'm doing really the right thing? In the ending you chose, the MiB puts the old one to sleep for another era, but it isn't truly gone. If some power hungry person like Allant awakens it again sometime down the line, the cycle will repeat itself. Your character then becomes the new Monumental in order to safeguard against that. All in all, it is most likely the good ending. Although getting rid of the Old One means no more soul arts, which as Freke pointed out have the potential to be a great benefit to humanity, the power of it is just too tempting and corrupting. If you're interested in more, there are some great youtube channels out there that go into way more depth.

How many times did Brad say the words "hello" and "wow" during this series?

Someone get back to me if you have the answer. I would be very curious.

I'm more interested in how many times he said "wait".

That was pretty awesome. I liked how he managed to get one more lizard. His encounters with the final bosses were just like mine, Maneaters were easy as anything, the old monk was no hastle. But the old king was a nightmare. I took three times as many attempts (thankfully I'd killed the dragon) and lost about 6 souls levels. Great game though, and great video series.

I was a little confused on how the final boss of Tower of Latria was going to work, thought servers were down aka another player couldn't take the form of the boss.

Such a good job on Old King Allant, brad, considering how little damage you were doing.

Vinny's ledge trolling and quick cover up was amazing.

What a season

Oh man! I really found myself screaming at the screen during this, mostly in excitement. Despite being slightly under equipped during the fight with the False King by only having magic-stuff, the challenge was overcome with good old fashioned dodging, blocking, and patience.

The world was mended in the end, and this has indeed been a fantastic journey.

I find myself wanting more Soul-adventures, but at the same time I'm waiting for the PC release of DS2 and to play that myself before getting too much spoiled. But from what I have seen of DS2, there seems to be some references to DS1, so I would love to see Brad finish that to get a little more out of DS2.

From what I played of it, I think Brad actually probably would like Dragon's Dogma. The combat mechanics are really cool, and more similar to the Souls games(but with a little more pizazz and a little less difficulty). Plus, considering how much he likes stuff like Skyrim...I don't know, I think it's worth a shot.

I don't know why the hell Brad wasn't just spamming his hundreds of healing items in the final boss, it's just a simple battle of attrition, especially considering how overpowered he was by that point. So god damn frustrating to watch him play games.

Also, Potato Marshal is great, fuck all the haters!

He beat him so... maybe chill out. Plus he had no way of knowing if he would actually beat him. What if he spammed all his items and then died? I think he did fine. It was marathon not a sprint.

As mentioned later, I knew there was another boss after Allant and I expected it to be fuck-off difficult, not a 10-second gimmick, so I thought I'd need them. Also, "spamming" healing items around that guy would be a great way to get killed.

I know you love clinging to your "hurrrr brad sux" mentality, but try actually thinking about why someone is doing something before getting so angry about it. This stuff gets old.

I'm aware this might be an utterly mental way to experience this feature, but I get a huge kick out of putting the downloaded video on my phone and just listening to the audio like some bizarre Brad & Vinny Demon's Souls radio play.

I don't know if I necessarily recommend it to everyone, but I get a kick out of it every damn time. Will be sad to hear this feature finish!

Here's his Steam community page: http://steamcommunity.com/id/potatomarshal

Judging by Steam motto, probably a kid. Looks like he plays DOTA2 quite a bit; I'd love to see Brad's reaction if he ever got in a match with him.

---

I enjoyed Brad's play-through of Demon's Souls - a game I'd never play myself. Though if Brad ever talks about it more, I'd like him to consider how his perception of it may have been influenced by playing it for an audience and being interwoven with entertaining conversations with Vinny. If he were playing it at home in a solitary manner, the way that a "normal" person would experience it, I really wonder if he'd have the same opinion of it.

Playing something for an audience elevates it to being a performance, and even if you're a humble person, one's ego is liable to get wrapped up in that. I think you'd be more likely to enjoy the game you're playing because you like that people are enjoying watching you play it.

The frustrating part isn't that you make these errors, but rather your attitude about it afterwards and the fact that you incessantly blame everything in sight and never concede that maybe you just aren't very good at certain games. A bit more humility or self-deprecation would go a long way in making your content more pleasant.

Okay, so what did I blame losing that fight on? Help me out.

Even better, @dexterkid, just don't get angry at all about the way someone else plays a video game? Were you somehow being forced to watch that video?

Okay, so what did I blame losing that fight on? Help me out.

I didn't mean that you blamed something for that boss fight specifically, I was speaking more generally about a culmination of things throughout this feature and others.

Look, I did start writing up a longer post explaining what I mean in more detail but it came across a lot more harsh than I feel is necessary, and I don't want to sound like I'm just attacking you or get into a heated argument about this, so I'll just leave it here.

(Also to any mods or whoever it concerns, there is something weird going on with the comments, it seems like they are not showing up for a good 10 minutes after being posted. And it seems like I clicked something by accident and made my previous post disappear. Not sure what happened.)

Okay, so what did I blame losing that fight on? Help me out.

Typically you would rest the blame at the apparent fact that there was no chance to heal, when you've fought your enemy and played this game for long enough that you should have known what attacks it would be safe to heal during. This was more prevalent against Doran than Old King Allant (or just about any other boss), of course. Your fight against the Allant demon was hardly the worst fight in the game, however it was still a fight where you would take damage from attacks that you should have been recognising and avoiding. If you ever go back to Dark Souls 1, and it genuinely baffles me why you would just leave that unfinished and move on to the sequel, consider this a similar fight to either Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight, or Knight Artorias. They are both enemies who have great speed, range and attack power; and the battles against them are ones of patience.

While you're here, Brad, would you mind me asking what it is you like about Souls games? I've been genuinely curious about this for awhile. You don't seem to be that interested in the lore of the games, you dislike invasions and don't seem to ever really use summons, so what about them specifically interests you as opposed to "easier" (for lack of a better word) RPGs?

Brad complaining about sitting there for 20 minutes to poison cloud the dragon, but spends 20 minutes complaining about not knowing how to kill the dragon, questioning the items on the floor, and making Vinny ask the chat about the lore. Sigh...

I think if Brad does another stream of a game like this he should have a die that he can just roll to make the decision for him.

I hope the next Souls endurance stream has Matt Rorie play. I wonder what his play style is like compared to Brad and Vinny.

Oh man, I just got to the part with the boss fight with the Old King. Brad should really pick either running away from that AOE spell so he takes no damage or stand right in front and block so that he can keep hitting him. Blocking from max range while taking damage seems so pointless. Also Brad seems to keep wanting to get range between the boss and him, but he wants to melee. I would be running at the boss and just circle strafing.

Are you that impatient that watching (not even) 20 minutes of Brad and Vinny figuring out the game is a complaint, Also he fucking beat the boss and did an awesome job, why are you complaining about it.

Great fun and awesome experience watching you @brad. You handled that last (proper) boss fight beautifully.

Is it an unspoken rule of the internet that trolls and people trying intentionally to be shitty tend to have anime girl avatars? Not saying all people with anime girl avatars are assholes, but most assholes seem to have anime girl avatars.

Shockingly, they're also a member of the Dark Souls 4chan community!
