I'm South Asian, so not Filipino (but close!) and it's amazing how many of the experiences y'all talked about here really lined up with my own -- scream-fights with your parents about not wanting to be a doctor, immigrant values, feeling out of place when you go to the motherland, etc. Really enjoyed this, can't wait for the next episode :)

Dope idea thanks for putting this together Jan! Really nice to hear y'alls experiences. I grew up as a child of immigrants in the bay as well, and while not Filipino I've connected with a handful of friends for the same reasons brought up.

Sad to see no business Dave! As half pinay, and aussie, I feel like I need to make an effort to keep close to my filipina roots. Aussies can be annoyingly laid back. Grew up in the community and had a blast (seriously, the PARTIES) but now feeling less and less connected. Food is the easiest way for me to connect, will have to get back to making pancit and kare kare!
