DLC on the disk. Complete rip off.

I'm going to to point you to mortal kombat dlc for how good that turned out for playing online.

The fighting games need to get with the times and have this thing called a play list. FPS games have them why can't fighting games?

Alternatively admit that there are some genres that aren't really conductive to the DLC structure (at least, not the way companies like Microsoft restrict it).

Huh? What? Wifi speeds are more than capable of playing games on. I have no lag issues on any other games I play at the moment that cripple it.

Capcom sucks when it comes to fighting games these days... They do make the games look cool though, I will give them that.

Maybe there is a Demo? I am a huge fighting game fan especially for Tekken. A few buddies of mine would always argue that or Street Fighter. Just seems kinda broken to me if I have to pay just to get better items to make me do more damage.

There is no demo and if I recall correctly Capcom didn't release a demo for SFIV either so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a demo for this one. When it comes to gems they will give the other player an advantage in online play if you don't have them but I doubt they will allow them for tournament play. If gems are allowed players will likely have to choose from the free gems. If not then I feel there is something wrong.

As someone who has never played Street Fighter or Tekken (aside from the occasional match at a friend's house), is this game for me? If so, which version is the better version?

PS3. There are exclusive characters and the controller is better in my eyes.

Also, please do more videos like this.

Everyone ok with the on-disc content "because of how Mortal Kombat was" seems to miss the fact that they could just, I don't know, drop the pay wall and never have those issues to deal with, since the content is on everyone's disc.

The "we want everyone to be able to play together even if they don't have the DLC" excuse is bullshit, considering everyone who's playing HAS that content already in their disc drive. Fighting games just aren't conducive to DLC unless patched.

I bought the game and I'll buy the DLC, so I'm not necessarily bitching just to bitch. It's Capcom's content, they can split it up as they like.

@RenegadeSaint: If it's still on the disc? They can wait years; it doesn't matter. A pay wall to content I already own is still a pay wall to content I already own.

And if you're developing a game with DLC already in mind from day one.... I know some people will say, "Well, that's a separate budget, or we got more funding because we're planning on doing DLC, or..." but none of that matters to me, because the end result is the same:

"We're making a game where our ultimate goal is to make you spend more money rather than less. $100 or more, preferably."

And being outside looking in at all that stuff I'm missing out on because I can't (and to a certain extent, don't want to) afford it, it's genuinely offensive to me.

Well, on one hand, I think the power of the gems is being a bit overstated, Yeah, it gives a character a boost for 10-15 seconds, but the better player will win regardless of how good the gem is. On the other hand, you're completely in the right for not wanting to buy this if you think the whole thing is BS.

For me. it just came down to the fact I play more locally than online. I have my gems setup for the characters I used in ranked matches, but everyone else has one default set and one empty set, and my friends and I just play without gems.

Thought of a logical explanation for the match ending when a single fighter of a team is defeated. If you think of it like tag-team wrestling, then pinning one of the team ends the match.

They have said the color packs will be free which yea colors yea if anything that just way to extend the life of the gmae.

Good luck with your free alternative costume, it will help quite a lot against somebody who bought a pack of extremely unbalanced gems.

I don't think having "better" gems is gonna automatically make you the best player or win all of your matches agaisnt people who don't own the paid gems.

In a situation where both teams are evenly matched, both players have identical skill and there is no lag the person with paid gems is more likely to win. Fact is, this scenario will almost never happen. Paid gems will give a small boost but skill can more than make up for it. While I don't agree with the paid gems people still tend to forget that they aren't a replacement for skill. I'm more concerned about DLC characters being much better than the standard roster and I do completely disagree with what they have done with the "DLC" being on the disc in a finished state. Having said that I'm very likely to cave and get it because I'm weak >.<

@Meallus:Yeah I can't say I agree with their DLC practices but at the same time I understand why would they put those characters on the disc it makes easier for them to do the "matchmaking" with people who have the characters and those who don't , I think the ideal would be just having those characters to be unlockable but the roster is pretty big a bit more if you play on the PS3 and I don't think any particular character is going be better than other even less when all battles are tag matches so there are a lot more of variables skill , gems and the duo you use is gonna factor in any match, if anything they should release at least a costume pack for free come on!.

@AngelN7: I understand that being on disc helps immensely as I have had first hand experience with the issues that the MK9 online suffered from. I still disagree with it for the same reason I disagreed with the From Ashes DLC for ME3. Content made before certification should be available to consumers as part of the price of the retail game. I won't buy ME3 because of that DLC but my love for SF and Tekken is winning out.

When it comes to Mega Man, Pacman, Cole etc I don't care, just like I didn't care about Kratos for MK9. Chances are I wouldn't use them anyway. Since I only want Dudley and Lei from the DLC if they were reasonably priced I'd get them but you can't rely on Capcom to do that. I would confidently say that even despite the uproar over the DLC, Capcom will not release anything for free.

But you see the is the consumer the one that puts the value on that kind of content, for instance I will totally buy the From Ashes DLC when I get my hands on Mass Effect 3 because I want to experience that content I see the value on expending those extra 10$ , but personally wouldn't spend a dime on a shooter Map Pack or a costume for a fighting game character because that is not worth to me dosn't matter the cost or the time of release, it's hard sometimes to argue in favor of DLC but the content is optional is not required to the experience you're still getting hours on content regarding if you buy it or not , but if you feel you'll get the "complete" experience by buying that content then you should get it , if you don't think is worth it then is not gonna be for you being or not in the game dosn't detract from the fact that is extra content for those who just want more.

@AngelN7: Directly regarding From Ashes, I can safely say it is very important to the story in Mass Effect as a whole, not just ME3. I know you could play without it but that DLC is significant no matter what way you look at it. They finished it during the production of the main game (despite their claims that it was post-certification) and cut it out to be sold separately. That is the practice that I disagree with. Cutting out bits of the main game to be sold off separately in order to make more money from consumers.

DLC in general is completely fine with me. If a company makes a decent game and decides to make a couple of missions or characters etc afterwards to buy I will be more than happy to support them, good development needs to be supported. I only disagree when they allow you to buy power in such a way that even if another player is better than you, they can be beaten easily. For example, a weapon that is much more powerful than those that can be found in-game without paying or fighting game characters that are completely overpowered and extremely hard to counter with the default roster.

In any case, none of the above is relevant to this video or SFxT. The characters being finished on disc but not available to use from the beginning is a bad practice but the game should be fun nonetheless.

@Meallus: I still don't think the time when the content was made makes any difference they could've made it even before the game production started or 2 weeks after the game shipped , and again I still think is the consumer is the one who puts the value in said content if you as a fan of the franchise are interested in buying it then you'll buy it regardless of the relevance to the content, I much rather pay for quality content than a half ass 7$ download piece that dosn't have any meaningfull impact in the story like Kasumi or Overlord in Mass Effect 2 , I wouldn't have paid for that content (I got them for free on the PS3 version) but none of those pieces does anything for me isolated incidents that tied very little to the actual story. That's where I stand if you're gonna pay for content it better be worthwhile than just mediocre stuff for the sake of making those who didn't buy it feel like they're not missing something.
