As someone who isn't even really into either rap music or wrestling, this game is extremely good. One of my most played PS2 games. The character creator, different fighting styles and story paths lent well to replaying it multiple times.

I love/miss this game. It absolutely RULED the first apartment I lived in in college. We all had our own characters and storylines going, we ALL laughed at the "Clean Cut" voice option, and we all IMMEDIATELY banned "Submission" style for being straight-up BUSTED.

So good. What a nostalgia trip; must have pumped dozens and dozens of hours into this game. The character creator was especially hilarious to see again. Some of my favourite GB content in the past little while.

This is easily one of my favorite game's ever. I had a blast playing this with my friends for hours on end fighting each other and trying to unlock the characters

man the beginning was a straight rip off of fast and furious when brian and dom get back to the house party. "whos this guy! he kept me outta handcuffs blah blah blah"

I played so much of this game as a kid. I played it again a bit a few months back and it still holds up. It's a lot of fun. Glad to see this feature because this story mode is hilarious. Some of the environmental things later in the game get pretty gruesome.

I wish we could get a time machine and kidnap that 2002-2006 era of EA when they put out all these batshit games like this, NFS Underground, the Street sports games, and so on. All of them were so much fun. We need more games like that.

I played this game back in the day on my PS2. Def Jam Vendetta was more of a wrestling game, but I liked this one even more for the different venues and features, just improving on what was there. Really fun and funny stream. Mahardy sounding a little like Beavis.

@rocketskates: Honestly one of the best games on the system, and I owned 120 games for the xbox.

I remember making multiple characters with different style combinations in this game on my Xbox. To date, one of the few titles where I actually went through the effort of doing that multiple times. I was a big fan of wrestling games from AKI and a huge fan of hip-hop, so when this came out and improved upon Vendetta, I was hooked from the start.

Really disappointed with Icon. It was decent, I guess, for what it was trying to be (something totally different), but I really wanted a (then) next-gen Def Jam game in this style so bad.

@rocketskates: It's my personal favourite AKI engine game. It's actually really good.

Of course, looked at another way, I suppose if you never liked the AKI games, this game is just a very fleshed out one of those.

@casse1berry: Your post made me look up when both came out because I felt certain Def Jam came first and then I saw The Fast and the Furious came out in 2001 and it made me feel crazy old so thanks for nothing.
