Peter Jackson hand picked Michel Ancel to make King Kong because he was a fan of Beyond Good and Evil. I believe him and his writer/producing partners directed the voice acting as well.

@elite49: What are his good movies? I have only ever seen Face/Off out of the movies he directed. I have also seen the Replacement Killers which he did not direct but he did choreograph the action scenes.

@tylambert86: I never actually owned the game but I did have a demo disc with the multiplayer on it. I remember liking it quite a bit.

What the hell 80s R rated action flick was "gritty"?

I just looked up the Path of Neo ending and .. wow.

As a big matrix fan, I think that was one of the most insulting things I have ever seen. I am glad I never played that game because I think I would have been more than disappointed.

Especially since I remember Enter the Matrix, while not being the best game, being at least good in terms of lore for matrix fans, same as the MMO.

@undeadpool: Eh, they might have been R rated, but most of those were equally as corny as Red Dawn. Nothing from the 80s wasn't corny. Heck, Red Dawn had the scene where they just flat out execute the unarmed men.

But mostly, I'm just laughing that Dan, who thinks "Face/Off" is the height of cinema, is afraid Red Dawn might not be 'gritty' enough for him.

You don't like Face/Off? Oh come on, man... That movie is so hard to not like on some level at least.

edit: My point being that at least Dan has seen that.

The word "panzer" has no relation to the word "panther". Panzerschreck is a combination of panzer and schreck. Panzer meaning "armour" and schreck comes from schrecken which means "to frighten/scare".

Fantastic Four might not be great but that trailer was making it way worse.

In case no one else has mentioned it, I'm pretty sure the character Willem Dafoe played was John Clark, who I think was a recurring character in Clancy's books. The movie was "Clear and Present Danger", if I'm not mistaken.

Also, the leader of Rainbow Six in the book was Domingo "Ding" Chavez, who was a sniper character in the same film/book. Played by Raymond Cruz.

hahaha no Face/Off is a good fun movie but both The Killer and Hardboiled are much, much better movies.

I'm still having trouble compartmentalizing the 00s as a distinct decade, the way we do the 90s, 80s, etc.

This demo disc really helps with that.

Serious Sam is a pretty cool dude.

I loved the King Kong game. It was so dang good. I love that it committed to no hud at all, including forcing you to check your gun manually to see how many bullets you had left.

That Amped 3 trailer reminded me that this was a thing.

My first ever 360 experience was looking at King Kong running in a Best Buy or whatever. Same place I played a demo of Mario Super Sluggers or whatever it was called. Ended up owning the Mario game before ever touching a 360 controller!

Oh wow that original Dark Sector gameplay. So many assets that would later become staple Warframe assets.

Here in PAL region the original Xbox had really bad RGB Scart output. Everything was somewhat washed out like in that King Kong demo. You had to mod the box to enable the progressive scan feature that the NTSC model had.

But once hacked open, the Xbox was a great emulation machine.

Wasn't Call of Duty 2 the one with completely different versions for 360/PC and PS2/Xbox?

When Drew mentioned the smoke effects I flashed back to the Target demo station in 2005 staring at how good the smoke looked, knowing that even my PC was far off from being able to handle something like that

Army of Darkness totally holds up Dan, as do Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2.

I suddenly remember why I hated the 2000's.

The Rainbow team also shows up in the next book after Rainbow Six, but I don't think they were a big part of it.

Sure was a lot of snowboarding here.

This just reminds me of when I was in middle school and was told we were going to see a movie and it ended up being a snowboarding documentary and I was just so mad the whole time.
