Sucks this is the end but you guys deserve the break from this intense coverage. These are some of the most entertaining and insightful Bombcasts to date. Thank you guys.
Wanted to thank you guys for the extra-long Bombcasts. Long-form roundtables like this are hard to come by and when you have so many talented, opinionated people in the room, it's great that you have a platform for them to riff off of one another for 3+ hours. I look forward to these E3 Melting Pots every year now.
I really think Jeff and Alex are making way way too much out of an intensely scripted Bioshock Infinite though. They were talking about it like it's the best thing video game related they've ever seen in their entire lives.
You know, both of those have been involved in the Video Game industry for a long time so, if Bioshock Infinite has elicited this kind of response from them, perhaps there's something to it. In short, shut up.
You're right! Other people are older than me and I should take their word for everything!
..Seriously, go back to being a good little boy elsewhere, please. Over here people have independent thoughts. (I'm not usually the type of person that gets into bickering like this, but seriously dude, that's straight up stupid.)

No, the actual point is that it's "straight up stupid" for you to question any body's excitement about anything. It's their reaction to this game which is their right; the point about their tenure isn't that you should blindly follow them but that BI must show impressively to have impacted them so.
Game doesn't appeal to you, fine. It obviously appeals to them. What's "straight up stupid" is for gamers to weigh their opinions in on things they haven't witnessed for themselves.

He IS right - both of them have a lot of experience with these kinds of demos and are by now used to separating bullshit from actual reasons to be excited. Combine their experiences with the demo (and keep in mind that Jeff has likely seen more of the game than you have) with the pedigree of the original Bioshock and you have good reason to be really excited. I'm not saying you don't have reason to doubt Infinite (which would be stupid since I am a random person on the internet and therefore have no influence on/ interest in your opinions anyway), but your dickish response made me want to at least say something. People who immediately label others as being 'sheep' (or anything similar, like 'good little boys' who don't have independent thoughts) for disagreeing with their opinions usually look like absolute morons - learn to deal with opposing viewpoints rather than ineffectually trying to devalue them.
@DrChipotle: My dickish response? I never told anyone to take their opinions elsewhere because they dared to question the older and wiser. I was just saying that they seemed over-excited about what was an intensely scripted demo of a game that is, well, barely even a game at this point anyway. I'm not saying they can't be excited, I'm just saying my personal opinion that they might be over-selling it a little bit. I don't understand how anyone could find that so offensive as to tell me to "shut up" because I simply said that. I never called anyone sheep for anything. Hell, I'm super excited about playing Bioshock Infinite too at some point. You're both putting words in my mouth and seriously overreacting to something I didn't even say.
@DedBeet: It's wrong for me to question their opinion on anything, and I should shut up, but you're free to shit on my completely inoffensive opinion about what they thought of an intensely scripted demo sequence to a game that is probably a year and ahalf from release? Hell, it's not even like I was pulling this out of my ass, Patrick basically cautioned them of exactly the same thing. I don't care that much about their opinions on the sort-of-demo, I was just posting some random thought that came into my head in a comments section. I was then responded to (out of nowhere) by someone who told me to shut up because they're older and know better, basically.
I'm just baffled by your response altogether. Yeah, okay, they're well-read people in video games. So what? I obviously respect them and their history or I wouldn't even be here. I was just a dude commenting in a comment section. You say it's not about "following blindly" but you were making a pretty compelling case in "shut up" to do exactly that.
@Marokai: Wait a second.. You didn't tell anyone to take their opinions elsewhere? Or imply that they were just being a 'good little boy' and that they didn't belong here because they weren't capable of independent thought? It's the damnedest thing, I could've sworn you said exactly that... If you have a problem with me 'putting words in your mouth' then let's stick with the ones you put there;
..Seriously, go back to being a good little boy elsewhere, please. Over here people have independent thoughts. (I'm not usually the type of person that gets into bickering like this, but seriously dude, that's straight up stupid.)
I see nothing wrong with people getting excited about a cool event they saw in a game. Especially Bioshock Infinite, considering its the same guys who made the first Bioshock.
@DrChipotle: "I never told anyone to take their opinions elsewhere because they dared to question the older and wiser." I chose my words carefully. You can't just cut someone's sentence in half.
@Marokai: Oh, so what you're saying is that you weren't responding to my argument? In that case I did not cut your sentence in half in order to frame a hilarious knock-knock joke. I would say that you irrefutably told someone to take their opinion elsewhere because they disagreed with you (if this is not the case I am legitimately curious as to what you were doing), which is hopefully specific enough now that I know semantics are the key issue.
I've yet to catch up with all of the podcasts (halfway through the previous one), but I'm really enjoying the talks with all the different developers etc.
So.....Klepek's a griefer and comes off as a total fanboy in this b-cast.
The kiddo in him was spilling out.....:/
Otherwise hearing everyone's impressions was fascinating listening. And back slapping after the effort these guys put out during this E3 is totally appropriate. Great job guys!
Wow, listening to more of the podcast, these people are playing a different Deus Ex Human Revolution than pretty much everyone else on the internet. Weird to hear other websites saying "Oh this is clearly a game of the year contender" and then to hear these guys saying the game is dated and underwhelming.
Marcus Beard is the ONLY journalist that makes any sence on IW. I love that he was invited to The House. but enough about that. Giantbomb IS the place to be for all things game related. Great show.
ps:
Jeff, never infite Shane Shittyfield to the show; he'll try to take over and yell over anyone who disagrees with him.

Indeed, I was thinking the same. Inviting Shane Shittyfield would've been awkward as hell. All he'd do is probably giving marks for the shows, grade the people participating the podcast and rate the audience afterwards. And in the end he'd give a shoutout to the upcoming "Best of E3 GT awards" .
DKC was a Mario rip-off, but not a "crappy" one. Killing Nazis does not automatically mean that one is not an asshole: the Soviets killed the most Nazis and they were assholes.
All and all, E3 2011 was lack luster but I still appreciate the Bombsquad's hard work. They should go easy on themselves with shorter podcasts. 2012 will probably be big.
