I dunno why. But I started dying when the guy being interviewed started stuttering, then Ryan started doing it as well.

I love the style of the game. Hopefully it will have the gameplay to back it up.

Great another stupid, generic, scifi shooter. They woulda been better off making a tbs. That'd at least stand out from the crowd, unlike this which only has its name going for it.

This isn't a remake of the classic X-COM I've known and loved.

Therefore, I don't give a shit.

Really weirded me out when Ryan didn't reply to dude asking how he was doing. Also, instrumental version of "Gravy Robbers".

As for the game, sounds potentially good, though I have no knowledge of the X-COM franchise so wouldn't know if this is somehow a slight to those games. Nothing wrong with reinventing something stagnant for a new group of fans.

I feel like he totally didn't get the point of Ryan's question.

Whats the incentive for NOT keeping the alien technology and researching it? Surely you'd want to do that every time to see what mysterious goodies you could get, not matter how hard of a gunfight you were in.

The graphics and vibe look good, but did they really have to make it an FPS? What was wrong with the turn-based strategy of the originals?

+1 for the above-average amount of beard featured in this interview.

The worst part about this game is the name. Everything else sounds really interesting. It's just a pity that this officially means we'll never have an isometric turn based strategy game bearing that name again.
You DO realize there's never gonna be an isometric turn based strategy game on consoles ever. Ever ever. Even on PC that genre is basically dead. It belongs to the 90's, unfortunately.

Yep. No game like that exists. Not evenon handhelds.

Look, I understand wanting to modernize franchises for new audiences, but considering that there are audiences for retro first-person dungeon crawlers like The Dark Spire, SMT: Strange Journey, and the Etrian Odyssey games (not to mention the brand new Wizardry game - Labyrinth of Lost Souls we just got), I could very easily see a place for a isometric turn-based base-building strategy game like the classic X-Com titles, on portables or as a downloadable title.

If you want to make the game more approachable for new audiences, don't make the game-play generic. Instead, adjust the difficulty and add some decent tutorials for those who are new to the genre. (Also, if you think any sentence with the phrase "back in my day" to explain why toning down the game is a bad idea, kindly punch yourself in the mouth before any stupidity comes out of it).

They're not gonna sell a million copies of a turn-based strategy game on the 360. That's what's wrong with it.

They would sell millions on the PC, though. There's a definite market for a new (true) X-COM game.

X-com fans should keep an eye on Xenonauts if you aren't already.

I was going to post the exact same thing. It's looking good!

This game looks interesting as well, even if it's not classic x-com.

Yep, that's the place to go for the classic feel. Or just go back to the original.

But this new thing looks pretty cool, as well. Looking forward to it.

@BitterAlmond: Lol. No they wouldn't. Just check VG Chartz.

Portal 2, a GOTY contender, and possible elixir of the Gods called Valve, only pushed 0.24 units.

Witcher 2 did a little bit better at a solid half a million units. That's only a difference of about $30 million dollars though.

You'd be hard pressed to find a PC game that pushed past a million last year, much less an isometric RPG.

You know what did push past a million though? Black Ops.

Obviously they made X-Com a shooter first for a reason. Shit sells, regardless if its on a xbox or a high and mighty PC.

Civilization V sold 850,000 units, which is respectable by any measure for a PC-only release. The original X-COM is often hailed as the greatest PC game of all time. You do the math.

@BitterAlmond: 850,000 is not 1 million.

Math is done, you are still wrong.

And by all measurements, Civilization has been a more popular and successful franchise. If Civ couldn't do it, an isometric reboot of Xcom wouldn't do it either.

Oh how wrong you turned out to be! Not that you should be upset at all. In fact you should be happy you were wrong. =D
