the river part especially. looked so weird, like she was floating really close to the river rather than actually being in the river. that's video games for you i guess. ambition restrained by technology.

Hm, video is not playing, but I watched it earlier.

Kept thinking that she'd need a tetanus shot after all of that. Rusty metal, glass, wood... bullets, Lara is getting sliced and impaled by everything with hardly a mark on her, somehow keeps on going, only for more shit to happen. It was like watching old-school slapstick comedy. Wondering how it all plays, all these random quick-time sequences. I also wonder if this game will allow me to stealth through the action.

The animation looked really impressive. I'm really surprised that this game might be good. I think that Lara is getting beat up about the same that Drake get beat up, its just stranger because she's a lady.

I counted 4 games featuring bows today (TR, Crysis, Far Cry, Assassin's Creed III). The bow people are starting to get into the games business, it seems.

More importantly, this demo looked fantastic. I've been a big fan of this generation's Tomb Raiders and was sort of worried that they're just ripping off Uncharted. It's a controlled demo, of course, but the constant movement between different combat scenarios looked like a lot of fun. The set piece stuff is looking good, too. One of my most anticipated games.

This looks very linear.  Are there any puzzles or exploration or is it mostly just corridor 3rd person shooter with heavily scripted bits? 

This video made me much less excited about Tomb Raider. The trailers almost had me sold on the game but the gameplay looked too cartoony and silly. I don't think it matches the serious emotional weight they seem to be putting into the story.

Looks like shit. I mean, sure, graphically it's great, but what the hell guys? Tomb Raider was always a puzzle/platform game with adventure game leanings and a little bit of combat thrown in. Where are those parts of the gameplay, i.e. the things anyone actually cares about?

I really, really hope this demo is only indicative of "certain" parts of the game, because frankly there's already enough Gears of War clones out there, and I really don't think Uncharted needs any competition either.

Anybody else think it's fucked up that she would just set dudes on fire. She's straight out on Uni for god sake!

Super excited for this. However after watching this demo, I realized that it's missing one key thing that Uncharted has (since everyone is comparing it to Uncharted, myself included) and that is the sense of weight and realistic movement. Lara's jumps for example are real cartoony and exaggerated. It takes the punch out of some of the scenes a little.

That said, I really can't wait for this. Looking really sleek.

What? What I actually care about is great gameplay, and this appears to have it. Combat is infinitely better just by looks alone and I gurantee there's plenty of the PoP* platforming in the game. And why would you want them to ruin the puzzle platform moments for everyone? Isn't 90% of the fun of those portions figuring out the puzzle?

Amd you must be higher than a kite in a hurricane. It looks to play absolutely nothing like Gears of War aside from the fact they both have humans and you aim projectile weapons. And why the hell shouldn't Uncharted have any competition? It was the best playing (as in gameplay, not dialogue trees and casting shouts from a magic list) single-player experience of last year. Um, would I like something that tries to play better than everything else on the market? Yes please.

*Prince of Persia PS2/Xbox deserves credit for the modern-puzzle-platform-traversal because it was TONS better than the Tomb Raider's gameplay prior to Legends.

It looks OK, I guess. I never cared for the Tomb Raider franchise, and the Uncharted-esque approach doesn't do much for me.

I'm not usually one to pick at things, especially pre release. This is really underwhelming though, animations are bad, she seems borderline psychopathic (although I suppose these guys could have just killed her family and molested her dog so who knows.) and well come on, a parachute would not open when you're falling back down, would it be that hard to have her role around to make it at least a little plausible. I dunno, maybe I'm just getting to old for this shit Riggs.

Seriously, Lara seems to be going through all the physical and emotional trials that the protagonist from The Hunger Games goes through, and that was TEEN literature. I'm assuming that this is an "M" rated game, if that's the case then what's the problem?
