I'm totally familiar with "The Goonies." That game was in the Nintendo arcade machine. Along with some other stuff, but you ALWAYS played The Goonies.

Metroonies?

Goontroid?

The Metroids?

Goontroidvania?

I just watched a man play a game that is 25 years old, for nearly 30 minutes.

If we judge our successes on these minutia, my life is a complete and total success.

I never knew this game was so good. My only goonies experience was in this arcade cabinet I used to play on the way home from school in this 7-11 type store. It had the original goonies, Pro Wrestling, and Contra, and sat right beside a Double Dragon machine. Those were the first games I played on the NES after Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt. Oh the old days of mowing lawns and hoarding lunch money. Also makes me miss the mom and pop game stores that used to rip me off. "So, how much can I get for these old hand me down 2600 games, and this copy of Tiger Heli?"

This game, along with Metroid, would've been impossible for me if it weren't for that Official Player's Guide bundled with the NES. Man, I haven't thought about that book in over 20 years.

That sprite of the main dude looks like it feel out of a 2600.

Every time Jeff went into a room I was waiting for Jason to pop out and attack him.

Metroonies sound like a Canadian drug.

Oh man. I totally thought this game was a sequel to the movie, too. In fact, I still did until this video. That kinda makes me sad, but it's still cool to know. Now I've gotta go look up this Goonies Famicom game we never got!

I too am glad Jeff didn't say the word "Metroidvania." The 8-bit version of the Cyndi Lauper song is amazing, it is so perfect it's like that song inspired all 8-bit music.

The music when u enter a door freaked me out as a kid.

and it still fucking does. jeez...

The sound effect when doors close is the same as when you make a 3-point shot in Double Dribble. Love it!

I'm loving this series so far!

Awesome! I loved this game as a kid. For some reason it would give me nightmares. The music that plays during the first-person parts is kinda creepy.

I don't remember this game being as good as I'm seeing it, here. I think it's one of those games I played at a friend's house when I was like 8 - didn't understand it - immediately didn't like it. Looks like a pretty decent game, though.

He was talking about the issue of making videos from his house during one of the Bombcasts. I think it was the "Comcast people story".

Some great music in this game, although don't remember having much fun playing this game

This caused me to watch the movie The Goonies. I have no idea why I put it off for so long.

Man I loved what this game tried to do back in the day. So much going on. And that 8-bit version of the song is awesome. I also completely thought it was a sequel to the movie. Nostalgia is great - keep on rolling with these Jeff.

What happened in those red rooms? Seems to be blood on the doors. It is a Konami game... GOONIES II IS A PREQUEL TO SILENT HILL! :-O

For some reason the snow landscape music made me think of WarCraft 2. And first person dungeon crawling is the best-

I am familiar with the original the goonies, had a bootleg version for my bootleg famicom, they were really popular in eastern europe in the 90s.

Another awesome instalment of the Encyclopedia Bombastica! I'm a little disappointed that Jeff didn't make it to a water level, though. Those are always fun...right?

If there isn't, there should be a playlist for encyclpopedia bombastica.
