I remember my mom took my brother and I to Toys R' Us to pick up a new video game for the NES and this is what we picked. I think we got The Goonies II because we liked the movie and it had awesome boxart. :D My brother and I got so frustrated at this game cause we just couldn't wrap our young, feeble brains around what we needed to do. We had been conditioned by Mario Bros. and other side-scrollers to just run to the right till you hit the end of the level.

Now I'm wishing I hadn't sold this game at a yard sale. :( I'd love to go back and beat it.

I got this game I think in the summer of '88 or '89. I didn't like the game initially but it was the only new game I had in a long time so I perservered and finished it. In the end I wouldn't mind playing it again after all these years; wish it would come out on the virtual console or something.

I remember renting this game from my old video store when I was 7. Watching this video definitely brings me back to that time. Hope to see more of these videos!

I found this game fascinating as a kid. I never made it very far through the game, but I enjoyed exploring and I loved the music.

Watching the Friday the 13th Spookin' With Scoops followed by this is drawing some WEIRD parallels between those games. Only this game looks like it was actually fun and well-made.

On another note, between those two games, Ninja Gaiden, Karateka and so many more: were game developers desperately terrified of birds?

Castlevania has some of the worst examples of diagonal-horizontal enemies. So, yes, birds were the ultimate assholes of the pre-CD-ROM video game era.
