Endurance Run: Deadly Premonition: Part VJ-38

Can't believe it's finally over. This was great (amazing, excelsior!). Thanks for your endurance guys! Can't wait to see what you do next. 
 
I have to say though, I expected the story to suck a lot more. The characters/story were actually not that bad, and it was definitely tongue in cheek. Were it not for the agonizing mechanics (and the fact I just watched the whole thing) I would have probably enjoyed playing through it.

Never again will giant bomb endurance run another game as epic as Deadly Premonition. Well...until SWERY makes another games, maybe:) 
 
I wish this guy and Suda 51 (and Kenji Eno, if he's still kicking around the industry) would get on some project together. Those guys are the "Triforce of MadMen", as far as designers in the gaming industry go. But I might actually like Deadly Premonition a little more than No More Heroes 2. Of course, I didn't have to play it;) Thx, Vinny and Jeff!

Just finished!  What's behind the door?!

Just finished watching the VJ ER, still have more than half left of the BR run, damnit, this was enjoyable, and despite the shortcomings in animation and acting I grew rather fond of some of the characters.

This game really has damaged me as well, I've started noticing vents when I walk through tunnels now. Walked through a tunnel just yesterday with the exact layout of those wall runner tunnels, and just couldn't help staring at the vent the entire time until I got out on the other end.

"You wanna play some darts?"

I honestly dont know what to think when it comes to this game

HAHAHAHAH, I like how Thomas is in the painting. That's classic. This game ... this game.

This ER was great, I think this game suffers from a similar problem that I find with a lot of anime (usually ones produced by Bones). The characters are well developed and at first the story is pretty manageable. However about 3/4s in the story gets more complicated and super convoluted to its detriment. Some interesting ideas are introduced, but they don't seem fully fleshed out and you get left with an unsatisfying ending.

Another ER comes to an end.

I.. don't understand why Harry types while he talks. It doesn't seem to be a Steven Hawkings set up. His lips are moving. He doesn't have a robotic speech pattern. He's not even wearing a gas mask anymore!

I am glad I went through this ER. This is one of the wildest and craziest games and game stories I've ever seen. I probably never would have finished the game because of those controls, but I am extremely grateful to have had the experience with Vinny and Jeff, to have gone through it and share it. Major props.

It's like a nervous tick; he's been doing it for so long, it's like a crutch he still leans on, despite not needing it. OR something.

Dammit, I told myself I'd only re-watch the VJ run, but now I have that empty feeling inside and I need another dose of ER greatness. On to BR it is then.

I still really hope someday soon that we'll get another VJ run though, no matter what it is. I know they can be painful for all parties involved, but it's final moments like these that really warm the heart in ways that no other site can do. It truly feels like I've been on an adventure with York, Zach, Vinny, and Jeff, just like I was with Charlie too.

You're totally right. Although the wall crawly ladies made me wanna shoot myself, the final moments make it all worth it. It's funny how all the episodes are all funny and goofy, and then once it's the end, I can't help but feel kinda emotional. Double goes for P4 ER. That was almost 4 times as long as this one, so the adventure and payoff was that much greater. It's weird to have feelings for two dudes sitting on a couch playing a video game, but that's why Giant Bomb is my favorite website.

Wellp, there's that then. No idea how I've managed to watch this through already once with B&R, because most of this was complete garbage, even with J&V doing the commenting. Near 20-hour lengthy game, that gets a tad interesting during the last 3-4 hours of the story and has only one, somewhat interesting character in it.

...but then again, I have watched this game being played from the start to the finish twice now. Haven't even played some of my favourite games through more than once. Guess it's that Giant Bomb magic...

Hah, nice to look back in this ER. 'Twas entertaining, I definitely want to play this game just for its crazy story and characters. I hope them announcing it for the PS3 is still being cared for. Wonder when it'll actually come out.

We really need another VJ Endurance Run! Why hasn't this happened yet? Surely 4 years is long enough of a break. Pick any game; we will watch!

@ellexmarie: Breaking Brad Demon Souls is basically an endurance run at this point

@jaronfranklin: Not the same thing. #1 - It's premium, so people like me who don't have the money right now for yet another subscription website account can't access it. #2 - Based on the limited amount of info I can see from the video descriptions and comments, it is not a Vinny and Jeff (VJ) endurance run, as I mentioned I was hoping for in my first comment. So my first comment/request still stands.

Finally got around to watching all of this. Fun times as always! With Vinny in NY now, the dream of another VJ ER may never happen again. :(

Also the idea that Zach/York were twins if kinda plausible (did zero research) considering the different color of Zach's eyes, which can be a sign that he is a chimera (he absorbed his twin in the womb).

Just finished this ER again and then found this podcast where there's an interview with Swery with the answers voiced by the VA for York, thought that was pretty fun/cute. It's dated but there are some interesting answers like the original development of the game, the origins of the movie dialogues in the car, what the zombies are, what Forest Kaysen is, and his thoughts on the reviews/cult following (even if the answers may be a little Swery vague sometimes)

I feel like Jeff and Vinny totally missed the point of this game. Still a great run though.

This was great! However, I don't see there ever being a sequel, or a good sequel at least. This story is almost 100% a copy of Twin Peaks. SWERY would have to find another crazy tale to copy and then it would be so different it wouldn't be the same!

I heard SWERY didn't want combat in the game at all, but later added it due to pressure from execs to entice the action-shooty crowd. It'd make sense given how easy it is to get infinite ammo weapons.

Honestly I had a blast with this ER. I feel like both this and P4 are held back by the combat, where you can tell the interest is really in the characters and story. Whelp off to BR now!

i cant believe i just watched all of these 9 years after the fact... i will say there are some incredible dated references sprinkled throughout this series though, haha

Well, guess I just rewatched this again. If I remember rightly hearing about this ridiculous game and endurance run was what led me to finding Giant Bomb, so it'll always hold a special place.

I know its been said a million times before but I really hope V&J do something with Deadly Prem 2.

Rewatching this and Twin Peaks have been an excellent comfort lately. Thanks for the laughs!
