Probably one of, if not my favorite episode of this so far. The meta-gaming against Dan is beautiful.

They briefly mention it, but I really wonder this would've been like if they hadn't made the coins give spins. I might've been against it at first, but in the long run it's been a good thing.

Also hot take: I think original Donkey Kong is bad to play and was my least favorite thing in this game besides the races.

If you actually think DK64 is a decent game this is torture. Episode 7 and this episode starts like they had a vaguely remembered dream 20 years ago. It's an exploration game where they don't pay attention to the world.

That said, I have to see how Frantic Factory trips them up. This level is actually complex.

@ybbaaabby I think the Rollercoaster Tycoon-esque game you were thinking of was Theme Park World. The horror map had similar music from what I remember.

What is that 'ha ha ha' song they play at 3:10? I've heard on a pre-show once before and tried to find it but no luck! My google fu is weak and there's a lot of different laughing songs!

I love this show with my entirety; this is truly a winnner feature, and the gameshow/betting format with SMS and this with stakes, accompanied perfectly with what Kansas City folk might accurately call "total horseshit". And it is hilarious, every episode is a journey, man.

.Mahardy is such a funking great beastcrew addition even if they pay him only in banana runts and wine. Business is weird. So is Doney Kong 64. This feature is full on stupid and the game is a really bad fever dream, and i love allllll of what's goin on in this so goddamned much. you guys.

For the finale, I really hope they collect the Nintendo Coin, which is done by beating the Donkey Kong arcade game again, after collecting the banana for beating it the first time.

It's a challenge for sure, but a fair one.

@danryckert Grape treading is absolutely a valid and non-novel way of preparing grapes for fermentation!! It was the traditional method for thousands of years even though it isn't as prevalent now. It's mostly done mechanically now.

@danryckert@vinny You guys should make a wheel with a bunch of dumb bullshit on it for extra life, and for every X amount donated you will spin the wheel! You would make so much money for the kids! Plus a lot of dumb bullshit would happen! It's win-win!

The economy, specifically the big prizes, would've been better served by having bananas used to purchase prizes be purged from the economy (eaten/thrown away) rather than put back into the bank. Having the price go up was good, but changing the wheel to have more devastating losses would've been better as well. Lose 5 becomes 10, then 20, then 30, etc. But keep the winnings at +5. Really drag it out. Because I want to keep watching this show!

Also, some sort of punishment for failure. Didn't get a golden banana? Lose 25 bananas. Had 3 or more turns in an episode and got 0 golden bananas? Eat all your bananas. There has to be a reason to want to do anything besides spinning the wheel, to keep people on their toes!

I never want an episode of this show to go right. It's better this way.

at some point before the 30-minute mark they try to make a joke about a Gooigi equivalent for Donkey Kong and i pulled my hair out when they never hit the right answer: GOOrilla!

@cheesebob: I think you're right. It really reminded me of some music in the awesome old 'theme park' game put out by bullfrog.

Also as a non Dk fan this show just keeps getting better and better. I stayed up an hour later than I should have watching this episode.
