1:47:00 in and I fucking love the earnest naive Joem. The kind of guy that gets tricked into doing his coworkers' paperwork for them because it would "make us all look better" while they go party, and reaps zero good will for it.

I look forward to these episodes every year, Austin Walker is just one of my favorite people.

Man, from the setup, I was like "this sounds a bit like Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles," and then Austin proceeded to name drop it a few minutes later. Glad to know my theatre of the mind is functioning correctly :P

Excited to listen to the rest of this! (and thanks to Austin for spending the time/effort to run this).

I can't see theaters of the mind since i've got aphantasia, but it's always nice to listen to these anyway and follow along with the story. Thanks for keeping on doing this, Austin.

I'll echo a sentiment expressed by Jeff B in one of the prior New Year's Beastcast specials and say I don't know how anyone plays TTRPGs without Austin Walker. He always gives a masterclass in meeting every player where they're at in terms of worldbuilding, agency, and mechanical depth. TTRPGs are such multi-faceted things, and his ability to recognize which elements are resonating with which players to what degree, and seamlessly direct the session so that everyone feels engaged and included is such a rare thing.

I love these, it's always a pleasure to hear from Austin and especially so when he's DMing. Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen!

I don't know if Austin reads these comments, but he should really check out Red Markets by Hebanon Games. It's an awesome "economic horror" game with a super clean but deep system and is wildly flexible.

This was a great return to form for the Beastcast tabletop crew! Too bad Abby wasn’t still on staff to participate in this one.

I just really could not get into last year’s game that was basically free form writer’s room plot workshop where anybody can write anything, and what little constraints were supposed to be there just got steamrolled over as the crew got too excited with how they wanted the story to play out.

YES! I've been waiting for this!!!! I'm so psyched, I love this every year.

Thanks Beast crew and especially Austin. This is a little slice of yearly bliss and I’m super greatful for you putting the time in to get it together.
