It might be for other things, but it's probably because of the notion that Ronda is transphobic and a Sandy Hook truther.

It's a big messy situation that happened a few years ago where the big talk in MMA was a women's fighter named Fallon Fox came out as a transgendered fighter after she had fought a few times. She had a man's body for about 30 years and recently changed at the time and had fights against women, two of the fights she won by knockout. After coming out, she had another fight where she won by knockout after she broke a girls orbital bone, busted her open, and gave her a concussion in the fight.

A lot of people in the MMA scene called it unfair because at the time she still kinda had the physique of a man's body, which gave an unfair advantage to her (I think she was fighting within two years after her transformation and the Olympics don't let athletes compete within three years? I might be wrong on that). Ronda was one of the people that called her out on it, and personally attacked her with some not nice words. The blogger community (think Gawker, etc.) took the personal attack as an attack on transgender people as a whole and wrote on Ronda being Transphobic. Ronda's too stubborn to apologize, but she has said that she supports transgender people, and doesn't have a problem with it if the person is approved by a commission to fight, so take that as you will.

She also retweeted a Sandy Hook conspiracy video with something along the lines of "makes you think". People (rightfully) didn't think that was cool, and she deleted the tweet and I don't think has mentioned it ever again.

Ronda isn't forcing her beliefs to other people (who knows, she might not be a Sandy Hook truther and she probably just doesn't want to talk about it), but that sort of stuff is there so people hate Ronda for it.

@turboman: the transgender thing, fair enough, think what you want to think, she's wrong but she can live her life.

But Sandy Hook. No one who wants to be on the non-crazy side of the media should be able to get away with that shit. Rousey should have either owned her batshit craziness and sunk into the Alex Jones cesspool or apologised for the tweet. Fuck her for real for that.

The American tax system is bonkers, clawing back money from Dan for a gift with questionable monetary value is just so weird.

Add to that you pay tax as on lottery wins as if they were earnings... The UK lottery system where the government is taking their cut from ticket purchases rather than from the winners seems way better.

Listening to Alex and Dan discuss Gargano/Ciampa makes me want to go back and watch the whole saga again, starting from the breakup. Maybe starting from the Dusty tag tournament. Maybe from when they were just a couple of guys brought in to eat pins.

God this has been such a great story.

She should've apologized, but once again she's stubborn (the same stubbornness is what caused her to start losing in her fights in UFC, she was determined to Box with everyone who was a better Boxer than her instead of relying on her Judo... but that's a different topic).

But her match was very good and she looked great in it. That was my second favorite Mania match behind Asuka and Charlotte.

And even one time, for one moment, publicly questioning the legitimacy of a tragic school shooting is fucking awful. She signal boosted, to a big audience, a gross video that in turn could have, likely did, lead to more suffering for the family and friends of the victims.

@mattponikvar: I was thinking the same thing. I asked on Reddit and learned she's a Sandy Hook theorist to some degree, she's a shit person, and something about domestic abuse (which I've never heard of). So basically still not sure why Abby has distaste for her.

@ericsmith: Fair, and I forgot to mention that she called out Mayweather for being accused of Domestic Abuse when she's dating Travis Browne, who's been accused of the same thing... so yeah, there's plenty of stuff.

If you are anti-tump, anti-vince, anti-wwe creative.... stop watching, promoting, giving WWE money. There is other wrestling to support.

@crimsonjester: Yeah, it's a bummer that everyone got their hopes up for this year's WM when WWE has a track record on putting on bad shows. I thought it was fine but I went in with low expectations.

New Japan is the best wrestling in the world, everything going on with the Bullet Club has probably been the best storytelling in wrestling in years. They are doing some legendary stuff with Okada, and their expansion into the US is very exciting.

The indie scene is very healthy also. Seeing guys like Riddle/WALTER/Keith Lee coming into their own over the past year is awesome to see. Ring of Honor is finding quite a lot of success as well now, becoming a solid number 2 in wrestling. UK scene also strong.

Wrestling is at it's best right now if you can look pass WWE.

For the record, I am not the thought police. Think whatever you want to think. I will become alarmed once you start acting upon whatever hatreds and/or prejudices that you may or may not theoretically have. Also, before the Abby defense force comes knocking on my door, Abby is delightful. I am simply making an observation.

Anyway, wrestling is fun and I was a-okay with Charlotte beating Asuka and that's maybe because I love them both so much.

Huh, I never realized Ronda Rousey was hated so much. Always figured she was universally loved.

I’m only about 30 minutes into this video so maybe it gets better later but from what I watched, this is the most cynical, unattractive representation of wrestling there is. Dan spent literally 15 seconds talking about Joey Janela’s Spring Break and then like 20 minutes about how the crowd at WrestleMania doesn’t cheer for the right people. There’s so much fun wrestling stuff to talk about but you would never know it based on this.

Right after this wrote this, Alex tried to say there’s too much good wrestling to talk about all this shitty WWE stuff. Kind of fell on deaf ears but thank you, Alex.

Dan liking Mother! only because his girlfriend explained the allegory is the most Dan thing ever. Mainly because it's the most obvious, cringe-worthy thing in the world, but also because it seems that Dan had never realised that allegories existed before.

He was so proud of himself for understanding what an allegory is that he was able to enjoy the most artsy, pretentious film in the world.

I love Dan, and have actually learned to like wrestling, but I think Dan has a real blind spot when it comes to this stuff. Abby clearly did not want to talk about Ronda but he just kept on talking about all the awesome potential of her WWE career.

Fun video aside from that though

Can we have some Get in The Ring feature action going on again after a long break? With just Alex & Dan. I miss hearing them have those more "in depth" conversations about recent wrestling stuff that they really can't have here.

edit: Abby occasionally makes same great observations about wrestling from an outsider's perspective though. So definitely keep these Gaiden features coming too!

I really want Vinny's version of Koko B. Ware eating at Applebee's with Junkyard Dog and discussing his personal problems to be a real thing.

Also the only time the crowd was really bad during Wrestlemania was at the main event, and even then I have seen them be way worse. At Raw and Smackdown after Mania, where they are usually awful, they were actually really great for once.

Also there was tons of great wrestling at WM weekend, NXT: Takeover, ROH: Supercard of Honor, Joey Janela's Spring Break II, Matt Riddle's Bloodsport, and plenty of other stuff, so if WWE bums you out, take a chance and try some of this stuff and there is a great wrestling discussion thread here at Giant Bomb if you want to talk wrestling all the time with great people

What kinda grinds my gears is like, yeah I can see why wrestling fans may dislike Ronda, that’s fine, she’s said some very dislikable things... but I dunno why people have gone nutso on her and yet someone like AJ Styles, who is known to have very shitty opinions about things, seems to get a free pass.

@turboman: I'm sorry for being the "well actually" guy, but Ronda lost because she couldn't get to the clinch do implement her Judo, not because she was trying to box. She was incredibly desperate to grab a hold of Holly but Hollys team knew exactly what techniques Ronda used to get to the clinch and gave Holly the exact tools needed to stop them. Same thing happened against Nunes.

Her stubbornness and inability to take criticism is what caused her to not get new, better coaching and get left behind by the general skill level of WMMA.

Yeah in Canada lottery winnings and other kinds of windfalls aren't taxed either. For the longest time I always assumed they were, but I guess that was the US tax system rubbing off on me.
