Gaiden the Ring: WWE Day of Reckoning Part 5

With only ten matches left in our Day of Reckoning career, Son of Berzerker will ascend to stardom as we talk Wrestlemania, Takeover, and all the other wrestling that happened last weekend.

Wrestling is about telling stories. Those stories are usually very stupid. Here are some of them.

Finally someone challenges Dan on The Rock. For years I have wondered why everyone at the site seems to just agree with his assessment of that movie being one of the best ever.

Right on Abby, The Rock isnt that great and is kinda boring.

Right on. I'm with Abby on this one.

Watched the film again recently after hearing them all talking about how great it was.

It wasn't great. It wasn't even particularly good.

Guys, tell me if I'm wrong here. The whole Cena/Undertaker surprise fight seemed to me like a completely manufactured drama, planned months in advance. Am I too cynical or is Dan naive?

The impression I got was that Dan knew it was planned, but that it was an interesting (or at least different) narrative to build.

Isn't taxation of lottery winnings simply a way to disincetivize using fake lotteries for large tax-free payouts outside the employment system?

Is the solution there not to regulate the creation of lotteries (so you have to account for income)? And does tax on entries not accomplish the same without unduly burdening the winner (which in the case of a cash price is a non-issue, but for a non-cash prize it certainly can be).

Dan hates wresting crowds who just want to "get themselves over", yet he has been to events where he seemingly spent most of the time trying to get giant signs/a blown up picture of his head on TV. The word hypocrite comes to mind.

Man those were some crazy opinions to hear about Kung Fu Hustle. I guess I can understand why Western audiences might not find it great but if you have any appreciation for wuxia movies and culture that movie is brilliant. I'm not gonna say it's the best film ever or anything of that level but it's a pretty great comedy. But again, I can understand why it might not appeal.

That being said, comparing it to Sharknado is just offensive.

The Bay Transformers are excellent candidates for Films & 40s; they are truly awful movies that should be lampooned at every opportunity.

Edit: The Lake House would make an incredible Films & 40s, it's dumb in all the right ways.

@dantez: So you think that him having a sign or something that has zero impact on the match or the wrestlers involved is the same as the audience inserting themselves into the match in the way that they have? That seems...like a poor comparison to me.

@sethmode: No, I don't think it's the same at all. I was more just referring to how he says "fans shouldn't make it about them, I just want to watch the match", yet he probably spent more time watching the big screen to see when he could get his stuff on TV, than actually paying attention to the matches.

@dantez: Hmm, seems like a pretty big assumption to make. Either way, nothing Dan has said or done has made me think the sign thing was more than just a passing goofy thing he has done so I don't really think he's being hypocritical at all, but I suppose we'll just have to disagree on this.

Mathematically, Dan has no greater chance to win the lottery than anyone else.

So, obvs he will win, because while luck might not be a thing, dumb luck absolutely is.

Also, the 1st Transformers movie is fine.

Keanu - Parenthood, Bill & Ted 2, and The Replacements.

Batman Begins was the best Nolan Batman movie, and they did go downhill from there, but Ledger as the Joker gets overrated because he died.

A large part of me is glad Dan got hosed on the Taco Bell wedding.

On the topics of Keanu Reeves movies and guys getting sliced in half (or in this case, multiple slices) and slowly sliding apart, I offer up Johnny Mnemonic. At least worth watching for the weapon that does the slicing, arguably one of the coolest movie weapons ever.

I never thought that "Jupiter Ascending Owns Bones" would be my least popular Opinion.

I'm with Dan on the wrestling fans thing. They've 100% been the worst thing about wrestling in years, and have stripped away my enjoyment moreso than the writers or Vince McMahon could ever dream of doing.

The more I hear about wrestling and the fans of it the less I ever want to hear about it again. Wrestling is f%#!ing stupid.

I know there are exceptions but a lot of the people involved with wrestling just sound like terrible, or downright horrible, people.

I started my free month of WWE network earlier this month and I gave it all a honest shot. I've seen all the Royal Rumbles and Wrestlemanias from 2004 - 2010 and 2015 - 2018. I also saw the Montreal Screwjob, and other assorted PPVs. Bottom line is that it's all just so stupid I can't continue with it.

I did enjoy the characters and watching them do these amazing feats in the ring but it's still so stupid.

AJ Styles and Finn Balor stood out as favorites for me for sure.

Seriously, no-one on the show, or here, takes issue with Dan saying Pain and Gain is a great movie!?
