I find it irksome that Giant Bomb's staff was far more interested in Thief, a 2/5 game that half the staff had to take independent looks at, than DKCTF a game that is fantastic. It seems like madness to spend so much time on a mediocre game while ignoring entirely a great one.

They didn't ignore it, they did a quick look of it.
I really didn't care for Dishonored so i remain more hopeful for this game, i tend to have more fun against dumb AI in stealth games anyway, but i won't know how i feel for a few months... i have the game, just not enough time to get around to it yet.
@riptide0: And haven't mentioned it since. Not a single word about it on the Bombcast. They even declared last week "Strider Week." Apparently last week belonged to a 3/5 downloadable game! Ridiculous. The only one still mentioning it is Patrick who will get to it eventually despite him saying he loved the previous game he's in no hurry. Doing more important things like doing daily livestreams.
I would've thought DKCTF would do twice as well as DKCR did since in 2010 only Brad played DKCR, reviewing it and espousing it on the Bombcast. No one else jumped in then. He even pushed for it as #3 Wii GOTY (though Jeff somehow managed to get Goldeneye in). Now in theory it should 2 staffers pushing it with Brad and Patrick both. Brad has forgotten though in the last 3 years and Patrick is preoccupied. Jeff somehow wound up playing it for the Quick Look and, though he seemed pleased with it by the end, he did not carry on after the Quick Look ended. Sad.
Thief is NOT a bad game. I'm having a ton of fun in this game. If you are a true fan of all stealth games then this new Thief game is a mandatory purchase. I beat it last night and I would rate Thief 4 out of 5 stars.
Soon I will see how how my experience matches up with the bombcast, unfortunately Alex is usually pretty spot on in his reviews which leads me to believe that I will find a good chunk of the game annoying and dumb. On the other hand, my expectations may have been suitably lowered to the point of finding the game alright... Time will tell, time will tell.
@themasterds: I don't think they all have a Wii U. I'm sure Jeff does because he has every system ever but I'm pretty sure whoever was in the quick look with him said they didn't and I'm not sure about Brad or Patrick. Tough to play a game when you don't own the system it is on. DKR came out during the height of the Wii's popularity and several years after it was released so pretty much all of the staff had one. It was a similar case when the site launched with PS3 games as in 2008 the console wasn't really worth the ridiculous amount of money they were asking for it. Like the rest of us these guys have to spend their hard earned money on games and systems to play at home and outside of Jeff these guys all have either families or significant others which likely take priority over buying an expensive system and games.
@themasterds This thing is done for a CBS radio spot and they just happen to post it on the website also. Thief is a much more high profile game, and will get more coverage because of it. Being a multiplatform game that is released on consoles that people actually own is probably pretty helpful as well.
@hef: @raven10: I don't think 2010 was the height of Wii popularity, that was 2007. DKCR and Mario Galaxy 2 were like the first Wii games of note in the preceeding 3 years if I remember right.
Just a quick aside, I had not listened to the Bombin the AM when making those posts as Patrick waited until the end of the work day to get the podcast version up. I see in the description Donkey Kong is mentioned. I am now happy again.
Anyways, this site has always about them playing what they care about. I'm guessing they're all pretty much tired of DK and it's not a priority, and that's not "sad" or anything.
This new (Consoleized) piece of shit... is a pale comparison.
And Jeff, love you dude, but play the originals again - it has most of what made up the original game - Not even close. This game is missing so much of what made the originals memorable. And not just what made up the gameplay - alot of the humor and such has been stripped. Shame :(
Anyway just my opinion. If you like the game, I'm happy for you. Maybe I would have liked it more if I hadn't been spoilt by earlier better releases in the series.
I don't normally criticize. I do so now because of the interesting production value of this one minute riff. It's good! And yet, over what? Thief has been reviewed, everyone knows what Alex had to say about it. I like it more when Jeff pulls a weird fact or some-such out of his mental-experiential... library, and runs with that. Be more interesting with all the aural glitter and approach from his radio daze.
The game might not be terrible but I don't feel it would be worth the price it currently sits at. Also I hope Giant Bomb do more gaming minute reviews like this.

Not when your job is to play video games and said video console that you may or may not own is sitting in the office not being played. That defense just does not hold up in the least bit when you apply it here.
