Seriously, is Alex the only person there who even remotely cares about the Monolith game teased during the Nintendo announcements? You completely skipped it.

Aww come'on Chronicles of Riddick is great fun. To me its the most authentic Conan movie to date. Riddick bares more in common with the character of Conan from the books than either Schwarzenegger movies, as enjoyable as they may be. I'd rather have my sci-fi/fantasy movies have to many ideas than not enough. Not to mention what other big sci-fi movie has hero fail to save his protege.

Kudos to Vinny for being the ONLY one sticking up for Castlevania LoS. I LOVED that game. I thought it was incredibly well written and well done for what it was. The ridicule it gets from people is so undeserved. I'll even go as far as to say LoS > GoW 3.

Also, Patrick was within a hair of spoiling the ending for Vinny.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks LOS >GoW 3. Hey, I think GoW 3 is a great game for what it is, and it is much more polished than LoS. But, Castlevania tries just the right amount of new stuff as well weave in a solid narrative that makes it one best sleepers of 2010 IMO. Great fun that game is - glad Vinny is giving it a play.

It's funny how Jeff is knocking that Castlevania game for not have stuff that the classics had, yet they bash on the people who don't like the new DMC because it does not stick to its roots. lol what a joke.

You are right!... But I get where Jeff is coming from, we all have our nostalgic gems we want untouched, but it is funny that you make this connection!

I think you guys are suffering from a bit of nos-con. Wind Waker was a great game... in spite of the visual atheistic (not so much the cell shading which was cool), just wasn't Link to me. Skyward Sword is on the money! Don't know what planet Patrick is from saying Twilight Princess looked like crap?..

I'm with you guys. GoW3 might be more polished but LoS is the way more interesting game overall. It's not at all the generic GoW clone that some believe it is ... mainly those who didn't play it at all (Jeff, Ryan) or who only played the first chapter (Brad, Patrick). I'd even say the combat system is more complex and fun (once you unlock more powers).

I played Firefall during their public beta weekend, and besides from servers dying, the game was kinda cool - especially for F2P. I don't understand the blind hate (since none of them have played it) the Giantbombers are showing for this game.

Also, fuck you Patrick, Twilight Princess looked amazing both aesthetically and artistically. :D

If Patrick thinks Fire Emblem is hardcore than I don't know how he'll handle other games in that genre. Fire Emblem and Advance Wars are on the same level for me as very easy turn based strategy games.

Out of curiosity then, what games of the genre would you consider hard?

I'd say the Disgaea games are a step up from Fire Emblem. Also I hope I didn't come across as bragging or anything stupid like that because I think Fire Emblem is easy, I've just been playing them since I was young and apart from restarting a mission the odd time they aren't that complicated or difficult.

I would have to disagree with you there. I have played a lot of Disgaea but I find it much easier than the Advance Wars and Fire Emblem series. I think it is all a matter of opinion. I remember on the DS Disgaea the ability to grind experience pretty easily, while the Fire Emblem series doesn't let you do that, and there is no persistent leveling in the AW series.

The Shin Megami Tensei game on DS may have been one of the most difficult tactics games I have played.

Yeah I found it surprising that Patrick/the crew considered Fire Emblem to be "hardcore" and Advance Wars to not be. I always thought they were both lighter strategy games, and never really had a problem at least playing through and grasping the concepts of either, unless Awakening is a lot easier than previous games in the series or something.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to point it out, but just to be sure: the o in "Koch" is short.

Yep, Jeff is right, Brad is wrong.
