The weird thing is I didn't find out about Jason leaving GI until this weekend watching one of their shows, I think the latest Replay. And my first thought was he would be a great fit for Giant Bomb and I got excited about the idea. Great hires and I am super excited about what is coming.

On the other hand, while Dan Ryckert being at Giant Bomb is great, it takes away from the chemistry they had over at Game Informer that gelled over the years, with Cork, Reeves, Turi, Juba, and Reiner who are wonders providing levity on all things games, so it is very bittersweet indeed. In a way I hate that Dan left Game Informer, hopefully it works well enough for him (but it won't be the same).

Hey, this one actually came out on a Tuesday in New Zealand.

@conmulligan: I've been following these guys for years now, and they've all proven to be stand up dudes with stand up ethics, and are personal friends with many in the industry who are not white, women, or both, and frankly are the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. But they also don't seem to be guys who would be into diversity for the sake of diversity.
Whatever may be extrapolated out of pure statistics, I have full faith that these guys simply picked the best new hires for their needs and atmosphere. I'm certain that it easily COULD HAVE been a woman or someone who wasn't white, it just happened to not be. They didn't hire based on WHAT the person is, but WHO they are.
And until things point otherwise, I will continue to stand by their staffing decisions.

Regardless, it's a new day for GB! Excited to see what's in store!

I fail to see how it's embarrassing. Maybe its a little embarrassing to imply there all alike because their white. Yeah, they definitely don't have vastly different opinions on things.

Welcome to Dan and Jason! I'm really looking forward to seeing how they integrate with the current staff. As I know it'll be mentioned I'll say it would have been cool to see a more diverse representation, but the GB guys are usually pretty conscientious about that sort of stuff so I'm sure they took that into account. Without knowing the backstage workings it's difficult to say how many viable options they had, and I'm sure they made what they felt was the best call in the end.

That said, I think both these guys should be fun to have around. Jason you'd better bring the fighting games hard, Jeff needs legitimate competition (Brad does his best but it's not really his jam).

Jeff was bribed with a free 12-month subscription to Game Informer.

I agree. It's not really diverse if it's forced diversity, is it? People might as well be saying, "25% of the staff needs to be female, 15% need to be African American, 9.5% need to be Native American decedents". Fuck that. If there was a female that fit the bill, I'm sure they would have been hired.

Dude, give it a break. You can't force diversity. If they hired these guys, they had a damn good reason for doing it. I'd rather have two guys who have great chemistry with the other staff that will do things right rather than have someone else just for the sake of "diversity". If they can hire a woman sometime, great But if they don't, there is a reason for it. Just be glad that the hired anyone at all - the way it sounds they had to fight for it.

I haven't listened to a second of this yet because of crappy Midwestern weather meaning my electricity just came back on, but welcome to Dan and Jason! I'm looking forward to the days to come with them onboard.

Now we'll just have to wonder about any potential hires Vinny and Alex may procure in the future...

This. Giant Bomb had a chance to make something great happen, and instead they went with a guy who wrote one of those "quit being offended" articles.

Increasingly, it feels like GameSpot is becoming the place I always wished Giant Bomb would be (which is a weird turn of events since I followed Jeff + the gang over after the original GameSpot fallout).

Giant Bomb expanding can only mean good things. This is great news.
